Thurston Southern is seeking an Executive Chef for a popular, modern-American restaurant located in the heart of Charleston, known for its modern take on southern cuisine. As the Executive Chef, you will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations within our restaurant. You will lead both chefs and kitchen staff to deliver exceptional dishes that exceed guests' expectations. Your creativity, passion for food, and attention to detail will be instrumental in maintaining and enhancing the restaurant's reputation and driving business.
Requirements:
- 2 years of proven experience as an Executive Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume, upscale restaurant environment
- Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to build, manage and motivate a diverse team, leading from the front lines
- Creative flair and passion for culinary arts, with a deep understanding of modern American cuisine and trends
- Financial acumen as pertains to both sales volume and costs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with other departments and stakeholders.
- Degree in Culinary Arts or a related field is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Development: Have a say in menus that showcase creativity while maintaining a balance of flavors and textures.
- Front Line Leadership: Manage all aspects of the kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and sanitation, while working the line with your team.
- Quality Control: Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
- Cost Management: Monitor food and labor costs to achieve budgetary goals while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the restaurant management team to develop promotional strategies, special event menus, and culinary experiences that drive business growth and enhance guest satisfaction.
