Job Summary
The Volunteer Program Coordinator will assist in the build out of a corporate engagement volunteer program — and then lead in the execution of 8-12 large-group corporate volunteer projects throughout the course of the year. The Volunteer Coordinator will report to the Director of Strategic Partnerships and sit on the Development Team. The position will work across all programs of the organization, identifying group volunteer needs and then collaborating to create ideal experiences that benefit both the volunteers and HeartShare programs.
Job Responsibilities

Work with the Director of Strategic Projects, the HR team and various Program Directors to identify projects and sites appropriate for volunteer groups. Build out a matrix of volunteer opportunities based on type of activity, number of volunteers and project budget

Coordinate, schedule, plan and implement all projects that involve corporate groups who are volunteering time. Goal is to run 8-12 successful projects throughout course of year.

Provide hands on site supervision to volunteers on activities ensuring that they have what they need to make the event a success.

Monitor and ensure volunteer engagement, productivity, compliance and status of work assignments.

Identify potential new corporate partners and find appropriate point of contacts within organization for outreach.

Brainstorm and strategize custom event opportunities with corporate partners.

Build relationships with other NY-based nonprofits. Co-create unique and attractive corporate volunteer opportunities.
- Working with Marketing Team to plan for and capture content around each engagement. Goal is tourn video and photo footage into sharable assets — for both corporate partners and HeartShare digital channels.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college

1-3 years of relevant experience; demonstrated ability to work well and collaborate with others.

Possess a fundamental understanding and knowledge of volunteer management.

Strong work ethic and personal accountability.

Strong time and project management skills. Ability to juggle multiple projects and timelines at once.

Ability to provide both oral and written communication that is easily understood and direct in its content

Ability to engage in critical thinking skills that allow for prioritizing issues, coordinating multiple projects and problem solve

Experience working with Microsoft 365 Product Suite as well as familiarity with project management products (such as Monday.com, Asana, etc.)

The position requires the ability to sit for sustained periods of time and travel locally. The vision requirement includes close vision. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
