Job Summary:
Magnolia Public Schools (MPS) is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Director of Math Programs to support all staff in the implementation of MPS’s math programs and curriculum across all school sites. Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Math Programs will work directly with school administrators and teachers, providing classroom-based demonstrations, collaborative and one-on-one support, and facilitating professional development. The director will enhance teachers' ability to deliver instruction that fosters student engagement and ownership of learning, and will work with educational teams to use data-driven insights to guide instructional decisions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Program Coordination and Implementation
- Coordinate CMO-wide math programs through professional trainers, webinars, or other media.
- Regularly collect and disseminate CMO-wide assessment data to determine growth, trends, and areas for instructional improvement.
- Support and evaluate MPS-wide core math programs, curriculum, and resources.
- Collaborate with school administrators to establish school-wide goals for mathematics achievement.
2. Instructional Support and Professional Development
- Research and provide guidance on effective and innovative math instructional practices through individual discussions, coaching sessions, demonstration lessons, study groups, staff meetings, and professional development programs.
- Provide professional development to administrators and staff, including classroom teachers, Title I teachers, and Special Education Teachers.
- Conduct regular school visits to support school teams, services, and programs.
- Plan, organize, and participate in various meetings, workshops, and training sessions regarding special education services and requirements.
3. Data Analysis and Decision-Making
- Evaluate student achievement and assist with placing students in appropriate intervention and support services.
- Collect and analyze data to interpret and use it to guide instructional decisions.
- Prepare reports and make recommendations based on observed needs.
4. Classroom-Based Support
- Provide individualized, classroom-based support to implement comprehensive programs, including modeling best teaching practices.
- Foster a learning environment that promotes student engagement and ownership of learning.
5. Management and Administration
- Manage and direct subordinate management staff.
- Develop and maintain internal program evaluation and reporting mechanisms.
- Identify problem areas and recommend effective measures for resolution.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various individuals and groups.
6. Professional Growth
- Participate fully in professional development opportunities and professional research and reading.
- Stay current with best practices in mathematics education and STEAM integration.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:- California Education Code, California Administrative Code, and MPS policies, rules, and regulations.
- Principles, practices, methods, and techniques applicable to math programs.
- Modern finance and budget administration as they apply to program funding and reporting.
- Advanced research and development techniques and program evaluation methods.
- Federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, and requirements related to the specified program.
- Evaluation strategies and techniques for determining program effectiveness.
Ability to:- Plan, coordinate, and administer program functions and activities.
- Develop and maintain program evaluation and reporting mechanisms.
- Negotiate program objectives and evaluation criteria effectively.
- Provide detailed data analysis and develop methods for interpreting information.

Physical Abilities:
- Function in an office environment engaged in primarily sedentary work with some movement to various school locations.
- Use hearing and speech to make presentations and carry on conversations over the phone and in person.
- Near visual acuity to read printed materials and computer screens.
- Sufficient hand/arm/finger dexterity to operate standard office equipment.
- Hold a CA Driver License and be able to drive to various MPS locations
Education and Experience:
- 5+ years classroom math teaching experience, preferably in high grades 3-12.
- Deep knowledge of common core state standards and mathematical practices.
- Outstanding presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including communication, problem-solving, conflict management, and collaboration.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
