The Opportunity
Lonestar Forklift is looking for a Warehouse Person to join our team in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for performing an array of duties such as receiving and processing incoming stock and materials, picking and filling orders from stock, packing and shipping orders, or managing, organizing, and retrieving stock. The Warehouse Person is frequently required to communicate cooperatively with other departments.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
As the Warehouse Person for Lonestar, your key responsibilities will include:
Receiving
- Receive carrier deliveries verifying accuracy of delivery against purchase order details
- Process product receipts in and finalize vendor purchase orders as they are delivered
- Ensure received inventory is placed in correct bin location
- Investigate outstanding items on purchase orders, follow up with vendors, advise parts sales staff of status of outstanding items
- File vendor packing slips and carrier waybill copies
- Receive inter-branch stock transfers
Order fill/Shipping
- Complete requests for inventory picking of customer orders meeting customer shipping requirements
- Notify sales staff of inventory discrepancies encountered when filling order
- Check all items pulled against packing slip to ensure order accuracy, packing orders for shipment
- Prepare shipping documentation for order - bill of lading and/or carrier waybill
- On completed orders, enter shipped quantities, enter carrier & bill of lading number
- Review status report for outstanding orders weekly and initiate corrective action
- File bills of lading & carrier waybill copies for outgoing shipments
Warehousing
- Maintain cleanliness of warehouse
- Maintain all stocking locations ensuring stock is arranged neat and orderly
- Ensure all inventory items are assigned a bin location, verify bin locations periodically
- Perform warehouse inventory counts & Van/Crane truck inventories
- Investigate inventory discrepancies
Purchasing
- Review outstanding purchase orders on daily basis
- Investigate overdue orders, contacting vendor and/or carrier to expedite order, obtaining documents if necessary, from vendor to expedite customs clearances.
- Advise parts sales staff of delays on incoming shipments
Vendor Claims
- Initiate claims to vendors for over or short ships, incorrect parts, missing parts
- Follow-up to ensure claim is handled by vendor
- Initiate returns of parts to vendor, where required
Freight Claims
- Prepare carrier freight claim documentation
- Track outstanding freight claims
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
- High school diploma, or equivalency, is required
- Previous work experience working in a warehouse environment, or with Parts is desirable
- Basic computer skills using Microsoft Office (Outlook) and ERP system
- Comfortable working to externally imposed deadlines (ie., pickup/drop off, inventory)
