Serves as a general maintenance and repair person for inside, outside and grounds maintenance for the Fire District; purchases parts and supplies and makes preventive maintenance and safety inspections; conducts shop related work as assigned; maintains accurate purchase and service records. Serves as a general maintenance and repair person for District facilities as guided by the Maintenance Engineer.
Job Duties
1. Performs general janitorial work.
2. Works inside and outside where work area is frequently dirty, dusty, greasy, noisy, and subject to all weather conditions; frequently exposed to fumes and contact with different types of cleaners, paints, solvents, chemicals and gasoline and diesel exhaust.
3. Requisitions supplies and submits necessary work records and reports.
4. Ability to operate all Fire District equipment and non emergency apparatus.
5. Skill in grounds maintenance including mowing, pruning, landscaping and spraying; skill in the use of related power and hand tools; knowledge and skill in the operation and driving of fire apparatus as well as farm tractors and fork lifts.
6. Must be able to read and understand appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and technical materials.
Must work in various strained positions requiring crawling, bending, reaching and standing on concrete floors; close hand and eye coordination in performing critical assembly and adjustments; moderate-to-heavy lifting up to 75lbs when pulling; pushing or lifting assemblies and working from heights and/or ladders as necessary to perform essential job functions as described.
