Fabrication Shop Manager
FLSA status: Exempt
Working Hours: This position is expected to work 45 hours a week.
Summary
Directly lead and supervise welders, fabricators, forming department, laser department, and assistant shop manager. Plan and establish work schedules, assignments and production sequences to meet production goals. Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders and company policies and procedures for workers. This is a key leadership role within our organization, and we are looking for a hands-on candidate who has worked in a small business setting and can drive operational excellence while achieving production goals.

Responsibilities
- Identify and address operation challenges.
- Identify areas to control costs.
- Assist with customer concerns.
- Develop systems and procedures as they relate to process development, process flow, quality assurance and work order documentation.
- Coordinate in-house fabrication, maintenance or repair projects or tasks within or between departments
- Scheduling- understanding machines/equipment to know when to schedule maintenance and what to do if one breaks down.
- Monitor progress and identify bottlenecks.
- Set and manage daily priorities.
- Develop systems to improve and maintain efficiency.
- Assist in the hiring process.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements/Qualifications
- Solid understanding of production planning, scheduling, and inventory management
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a focus on root cause analysis
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Knowledge of all types of metals and relevant welding/fabricating and cutting techniques using correct machinery, equipment and tools including lasers and brake press.
- Experience with ERP systems
- Ability to lead employees to motivate; foster open, honest and candid communication; and determine strengths and weaknesses.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing, or related field and/or 5+ years of successful experience in a similar role and small business setting

Pay: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
