JOB DESCRIPTIONS
Shift Leader Barista Part-time Day Shift Thursday - Sunday 6:30am - 2pm, 32 hours per week.
*Pay with NYC Food Protection Certification: BASE PAY Hourly Rate is $19.00 (Range $25.00 an hour with tips).
*Starting Pay without NYC Food Protection Certification (requires proof registered with NYC Dept of Health for the free Food Protection Course): BASE PAY Hourly Rate is $18.00 (Range $24.00+ an hour with tips). Base pay will be raised to $19.00 after employee obtains their NYC Food Protection Certification. If hired, you must receive the certification within 60 days of date of hire.
The Lead Barista has proven ability to arrive on time every day. To provide quality customer service and demonstrated knowledge of coffee and tea products, equipment, sweet and savory cafe foods. The lead barista has responsibility for serving all products with friendly, individualized attention towards each customer. Is also responsible for making a difference to our customers by educating them about our premium coffees and teas. Lead baristas are instrumental in building customer relationships and fostering a positive and friendly store environment. They also provide technical guidance to new team members and assist in the training program. The lead barista fulfills any other duties the store manager and/or the assistant manager assigns and represents Social House Cafe in a professional manner. All team members are expected to support the Guiding Principles and follow the House Rules.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
· NYC Department of Health issued Food Protection Certification. OR
· ServSafe Certification is acceptable. However, must be currently enrolled in the free course with NYC Dept. of Health Food Protection program and actively studying for the exam. Must show proof. Must obtain certification within 60 days of hire date. OR

Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.

Makes and preps café foods according to company recipes.
Continues to learn and educate themselves on whole bean knowledge, coffee blends, tea products, bakery items, coffee brewing, and blended products.

SERVICE
Arrives on time every day. Punctuality is a must.
Greets all customers with fast, friendly, personalized service and develops a rapport with our customers by learning their names, favorite drinks and food items.
Make various Latte Art designs to delight our customers.
Verbally receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner.
Reports all customer complaints to manager on duty.
Responds proactively to prevent customer service situations.
Accurately rings sales orders into cash register and counts back change to customers in a courteous and friendly manner.
Uses POS System.
Answers telephone in a courteous and friendly manner including, but not limited to, giving store greetings, directions to store location, and receiving and filling customer orders.
Answers customer questions regarding coffee blends, food, and drink.
Weighs, grinds, and packs coffee per customers’ orders according to Company guidelines.
Sells and serves baked goods and miscellaneous food items to customers.
Prepares house made sandwiches, sauces, cold and hot drinks according to company recipes.
Maintains efficient, friendly service standards and demonstrates such standards when training other team members.
Communicates with management and baristas effectively.
ENVIRONMENT:
Provides superior services and promotes a friendly, comfortable environment by providing fast and friendly service. Perpetuates Company Guiding Principles and House Rules.
Restocks shelves, when necessary.
Routinely cleans the bar area, dining area, floor, windows, and grinders, appliances, show cases, and takes out trash.
Assists in the distribution of weekly shipments and maintains a clean and organized storage room.
Reports potential safety hazards to the manager on duty.
Reports all employee accidents to the manager on duty.
Informs the manager on duty of any operational inconsistencies.
Follow and Fill out daily and weekly checklists.
REQUIREMENT, QUALIFICATIONS & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Runs errands, when needed.

Works Coffee Trailer, as needed.
Maintains positive Company morale.
Must be able to work overtime, as needed.
Attend all required training.
Demonstrated ability to lead, communicate and train fellow team members in The Social House Café standards.
Experience in café food establishment.
Excellent verbal and written skills.
Basic math skills.
Well-organized and detail oriented.
Register and cash handling experience including counting and recording register till.
Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear, bend, reach, turn and etc.
Frequently required to use hand to finger motions, handle or feel objects, and reach with hands and arms.
Regularly required to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust and focus.
Regularly required to handle appliances, cooking, warming, and serving cold and hot food and beverages.
