Procurement Specialist
Summary
Collaborates with other members of the supply chain, ensuring that chemical raw materials are purchased and available to support production planning and company forecast. Supports the development and maintenance of the company’s ERP/MRP system and assists in maintaining accurate price lists for purchased material. Performs work safely and efficiently and according to established company procedures.
Essential Duties
Prepares purchase orders to support forecast and production plan for chemical raw material (bulk
and non-bulk) by verifying specifications and price. Obtains approval from appropriate Budget
Manager for each purchase.
Verifies purchase orders by comparing items requested to master list, clarifies unclear items, and
assists to maintain master list of purchased items.
Verifies receipt of items purchased by comparing items received to items ordered. Assists
Group Management to resolve shipment/receiving errors.
Supports timely payment of invoices by assisting to provide documentation to Accounts Payable
and ensuring documentation is accurate.
Supports planning function by timely collecting, analyzing, summarizing, and sharing data.
Communicates up and down the supply chain to work in a collaborative environment with other
departments (internal and external) to support production plan.
Monitors status and communicates timely and accurate information to appropriate personnel for:
*ETA of incoming raw materials
*Issues or concerns with supply of raw materials
*Timely investigates viable options internally/externally to secure raw materials to meet
production demands.
Compiles information on receipt of material, equipment, merchandise, or supplies, and maintains
inventory, price, and cost.
Assists with Import/Export documentation in support of the GM of Supply Chain.
Supports the company in maintenance and improvement of company operating systems
including NAV, WMS, and scan gun devices.
Prepares reports as requested.
Assists management of contracts with material vendors as requested.
Cross trains to the level to support planning and purchasing function for bulk and package in the
absence of the primary associate.
Travel to assist with audits of vendors and suppliers as necessary.
Performs all work according to safety policies and procedures (both in-house and regulatory) to
decrease the potential for employee injuries on the job.
Maintains open line of communication between Team Lead, Peers, and management by
communicating with others as needed to coordinate activities of individual departments.
Attends training and meetings as scheduled.
Recommends changes to improve quality, cost, or safety.
Assists in troubleshooting or resolve problems.
Participates in the non-conformance process and assists in implementing corrective action
activities.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) with 3-5 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems,
Inventory control, general principles of accounting and finance.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business information, technical procedures, simple
legal contracts, import/export documents, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports,
business correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and
respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and peers.
Math Ability:
Basic add, subtract, multiply, and divide. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions,
percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to utilize statistics for
historical analysis. Basic understanding of principles of accounting and finance. Ability to work
in both Metric and US units.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations
where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished
in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills:
Efficient Working knowledge of ERP/MRP scheduling software. Microsoft Office software
(Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).
Certificates and Licenses:
None
Ability to obtain a forklift license is preferred
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Has no direct supervisory reports.
