The successful candidate is responsible for implementing the Company's EH&S programs to ensure safety and compliance with applicable local, state and federal regulations, as well as requirements of the Parent Company, working in a team environment:
- Promote an organizational culture that fosters EHS excellence through effective leadership.
- Proactively manage Occupational Health & Safety programs to maximize safety performance and minimize risk.
- Manage Industrial Hygiene programs such as Respiratory Protection Program, Inorganic Arsenic Program; Wipe Sampling.
- Lead the PSM program and serves as the plant expert on PSM/RMP regulations and related issues.
- Manage the development and maintenance of risk assessments to identify critical EHS hazards and opportunities for safety improvements for jobs/tasks.
- Support efforts to ensure that all key EHS operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that EHS action items are resolved on a timely basis.
- Evaluate proposed projects and proposed new chemicals and ensure plans are in-place and implemented to address EHS compliance issues.
- Recommend and develop changes in policies, procedures, work environment and equipment to minimize foreseeable risk in the workplace.
- Conduct frequent walkthroughs of each production, warehouse and office area in the Phoenix facilities. Identify and correct hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through personal interaction and education of all appropriate departments.
- Perform monthly safety inspections with department leaders to ensure compliance with regulations, corporate requirements and ISO Safety & Health, and Environmental Standards.
- Conduct internal ISO audits as part of the internal audit team to support ISO-45001 and ISO-14001 compliance.
- Perform compliance audits of contractors to minimize liability.
- Participate and act as an advisor for employee safety committee activities
- Provide or coordinate new hire orientation outlining high expectations regarding EHS and company compliance and the important role of the employee.
- Provide or coordinate all OSHA and EPA, company-required and non-mandatory training to educate the workforce on safe work practices. This includes all shifts.
- Meet with night shift employees on a routine basis to discuss safety issues
- Manage EHS targets & metrics, including near misses to improve safety performance.
- Maintain liaison with appropriate regulatory agencies. Accompany, when possible, on all facility visits by regulatory agencies, as well as parent company EHS and insurance inspectors.
- Partner with the Facilities Manager on the Emergency Response Team. Ensures drill are performed to document plan effectiveness. Participate, as requested, on related company or corporate programs such as the Risk Crisis management committee.
- Lead injury and illness investigations, as well as near misses, using problem solving techniques to capture lessons learned and implement countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence.
- Reviews new/current EHS related legislation and evaluates the impacts to organization.
- Review documentation to insure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures. Maintain all EHS documents according to the corporate retention schedule.
- Demonstrates teamwork in all interaction with other groups and departments.
Qualifications Statements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry, Engineering or similar Science or EHS field from an accredited university.
- 5 years’ experience in the listed principal responsibilities in an operationally diverse EHS environment.
- Certification as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or Professional Engineer is preferred but not required.
- The following items would be beneficial:
- Certified First Aid/CPR/AED Trainer
- RCRA and Hazardous Waste Management Certification.
- OSHA 30-hour Certification
· Good understanding of risk management and risk assessments
- Effectively communicate EHS principles and requirement though a variety of training situations, and media.
- Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate action with firmness and tact.
- Superb interpersonal & communication skills with a confident, concise and clear style.
- Strong analytical and strategic problem-solving capabilities.
- Proven organization, project management and time management skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of team.
- Understanding of and ability to acquire information, to stay current, on applicable federal, state, local and company regulations.
- Proficiency with MS Office software, particularly Excel and PowerPoint with experience in EHS software, SharePoint, and SAP preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
· Work may require the use of Class 100 Clean Room suits, occasional use of an air purifying respirator
· May work in areas using hazardous chemicals
· May occasionally lift equipment up to 25 lbs
· May need to wear ear plugs when working in areas with excessive noise

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
