The Director of Nursing Services with OPWDD experience will coordinate and supervise the delivery of medical, nutritional, and nursing services.
Job Duties:
- Provide oversight supervision, support and guidance to the Nursing Department.
- Meet with the Nurse Practitioner to ensure she is apprised of significant health care issues involving our individuals.
- Ensure the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual nursing updates for each individual.
- Periodically review medical and nursing services as well as nursing procedures to ensure compliance and to implement updates as needed.
- Review Individual’s medical charts with the Residence Nurse to ensure compliance and organization. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations relating to health care in the OPWDD system.
- Participate in all residential surveys to support the Residence Nurse. Ensure follow-up and correction of any deficiencies/recommendations from the survey in health care areas
- Maintain confidential documentation of nurse employee issues, ensuring appropriate and timely evaluation of nurses, and advising Human Resources Department and House Supervisors of any Residence Nurse concerns and evaluation needs.
- Interact directly with the Director of Program Services to discuss issues related to psychiatric medication and appointments, as well as other clinical disciplines such as OT, PT, and Speech as necessary.
- Implement medical/nursing in-services and update as needed, including the Medication Administration and G-tube course to reflect current OPWDD guidelines. Coordinate training updates and schedule with the training department as needed.
- Teach the OPWDD approved Medication Administration and G-tube courses, as well as any other required health care training.
Requirements:
- The Director of Nursing Services must have a New York State license to practice as a Registered Nurse.
- A bachelors degree in nursing is preferred, but consideration will be given to those with extensive experience in the field of nursing and developmental disabilities.
- Must have knowledge of Federal, State and local regulations and laws as they pertain to healthcare delivery in the OPWDD system.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle to travel between our sites.
- Salary based on combination of experience and education level.

Pay: $95,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
