We are looking for a Café Assistant who will be responsible for overseeing the To-Go and online food ordering program at Vivalon, as well as assisting the Café Supervisor with Café daily operations and supporting the volunteer’s team for customer service success. This person must demonstrate an elevated level of self-awareness, customer service and will need to be comfortable operating our point-of-sale system.
Essential Functions:
Food Service-related Duties
- The Café Assistant works under the Café Supervisor and assists with the Café and kitchen set-up, cleaning, and daily food delivery.
- Prepare for lunch service, ensure mise-en-place readiness.
- Plate the meals according to standard operating procedure ensuring food quality is maintained with the goal for meals to be plated hot and well presented.
- Receive and store food according to USDA requirements.
- Clean and sanitize the kitchen, complete all cleaning tasks as outlined in standard operation procedure in accordance with FDA guidelines.
- Prepare and operate the dishwasher as needed throughout the day.
To-Go & Online OrdersProgram
- The Café Assistant will be responsible for taking our members and guests phone orders and collecting online order forms, sharing relevant information to the rest of the team, organizing the cafe set-up and upon food delivery, assembling and boxing orders accordingly to their pick-up times.
- Operate card reader and tablet to process to-go phone orders.
- Operate card reader and tablet to process group orders.
Nutrition Classes Program
- The Café Assistant will be part of the Nutrition classes' success by supporting the Café Supervisor and Nutrition Programs Manager with set-up and breakdown and assisting the class participants.
Requirements:
- Minimum of three years in large scale food operation.
- Knowledge and completion of the CA Food Handler training.
- Customer service and conflict resolution experience.
- Working knowledge of kitchen equipment and chemicals for cleaning and sanitizing.
- Ability to meet deadlines, employ strong organizational skills and juggle multiple priorities.
- Ability to work independently, with receptivity to feedback, and as part of a team.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work on-site 5 days per week at our Healthy Aging Campus located in Downtown San Rafael.
Compensation and Benefits:
