Essential Functions
An employee in this class will deliver contract work to different agencies, load and unload the delivery truck, and supervise persons served. Staff will also oversee the organizations fleet maintenance, and serve as the Coordinator in maintaining the cleanliness, maintenance duties, and safe working environment of the facilities. Responsibilities include adhering to safety procedures, completing maintenance duties at The Workshop and group homes, scheduling/meeting with outside repair persons at all locations, operating the delivery truck, agency vehicles, forklift, filing safety reports, and doing any other duties assigned by the Executive Director.
Supervision Received
The work is performed under the direction of the Executive Director, Safety Coordinator, and Production/Program Manager in accordance to established policies, procedures, and objectives. Performance is evaluated by the Executive Director in conference and by written evaluation annually.
General Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to uphold the rights of the individuals served at all times
Ability to self start
Maintain confidentiality of individual served and other persons receiving services in all settings but especially when assisting with medications or personal care, etc.
Maintain confidentiality of all records, files etc. for all programs.
Ensure that individuals are supervised and engaged in age appropriate and meaningful activities at all times or work with individuals to develop a safe and healthy environment.
Support individuals through their daily activities and ensure that such activities are performed in an effort to meet individual goals.
Adhere to The Workshop of Davidson Inc. training criteria and curriculum, including attendance in staff meetings, team building initiatives, and organizational training sessions to improve professional competence. Ability to successfully demonstrate competence in all areas of training and to successfully pass all competency testing and demonstration requirements.
Follow health care regulations, behavior regulations, and individuals written behavior plans.
Communicate professionally and positively with individuals, parent/guardians, caregivers, staff, visitors and other professionals.
Administer simple first aid and assist with medication administration, also demonstrate proper use of personal protective equipment in any necessary scenarios
Will abide by, enforce, and participate in the implementation and ongoing oversight of all Workshop safety standards and regulations. Will also assist with emergency management and completion of drills.
Will check with Production Manager each morning for daily assignments.
Make scheduled deliveries in a timely manner
Must have the ability to interact in a positive manner with various company representatives when in the community making deliveries and ensure safety and well-being of any persons served that go along on delivery trips.
Be able to operate forklift to load, unload, transfer and stack materials.
Completion of loading and unloading of truck, moving, packing and wrapping pallets, banding materials, stapling, and compressor jobs, and other production tasks as needed. Supervising persons served in completion of these duties when applicable
Ability to lift work from pallets and place in work area
Ability to operate a pallet jack, dolly, tape gun, box cutter, skid wrapper, air gun, and other work materials as required.
Ability to keep work materials and workshop supplies organized and accounted for in the warehouse.
Ability to ensure general cleanliness and organization of the warehouse, ensuring chemicals, gas containers, overflow supplies etc. are stored appropriately.
Assist in special activities and field trips and will ensure safety and well being of persons served at all times.
Transport persons served in agency vans or personal vehicles as needed.
Report any defects in truck (engine, safety features, etc.)
Check quantities for all shipments and pick-up tickets. Complete delivery tickets as needed.
Completes routine and minor maintenance at Workshop and Group Homes when appropriate (changing light bulbs, filters, light plumbing/ painting, changing batteries in alarms, and other maintenance designated by the Executive Director and Safety Coordinator)
Coordinates maintenance and repair persons at all locations. Ensures that all repairs at GHI that are over $150.00 go through the work order process at ARC/HDS.
Assures maintenance supplies such as light bulbs, gloves, breathing masks, floor tape, etc. are purchased and in stock.
Coordinates with inmate work crew lawn maintenance duties, and projects such as putting tape on the floor.
Works with finance officer to ensure funds available for repairs and completes documentation when repairs require insurance coverage.
Management of fleet maintenance; keeping track of all oil changes, tire rotations, taking vans/truck, etc. in for service, inspections, repairs etc.
Check safety features for the truck and fork lift and fill out safety checklist daily.
Check oil and water daily on delivery truck and forklift.
Complete regular safety inspections and checklists on all agency vans.
Give reports, upon request, to coordinators regarding behavior problems of persons served that help on the truck or in warehouse.
Keep record of gasoline use/ turns in all gas receipts to finance staff.
Responsible for Monthly Accident/Illness Report, and vehicle inspection reports.
As needed will act as fill in Instructor, Tech, Job Coach, or other positions to ensure coverage and will cross train to learn the duties required of these positions
Will perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements
The ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to abide by North Carolina Driving Laws
Ability to pass fork lift training
Ability to relate effectively and establish good rapport with contract customers, persons served, and other staff.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED
Valid driver’s license
Must have ability to work effectively with staff and persons served, and have the ability to communicate with all persons in a culturally competent manner.
Accountability
The Maintenance Coordinator /Truck Driver / Material Handler/ Fleet /Warehouse Manager of The Workshop of Davidson, Inc. will be responsible to the Executive Director, Production/Program Manager, and Safety/Maintenance Coordinator and will perform any other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.
