Lafayette Medical Approach has an immediate opening for a full-time and/or part-time nurse at our outpatient substance abuse treatment program in lower Manhattan. Lafayette Medical Approach provides medication-assisted therapy and has been treating individuals in the NYC community for over 40 years. We are OASAS licensed and CARF accredited.
Clinic Medicating Hours are:
Monday through Friday from 6:30 am to 3:00 pm
*You will be required to work rotating Saturdays - Saturday 8:00 am to 12:00 pm
Responsibilities
- Assist the PA/Physician in the admission process by gathering baseline data of the client's current health status.
- Administer medication as ordered by the PA/Physician.
- Educate and orient clients within the nurse's scope of practice.
- Provides confidentiality in all interactions with clients, to the extent possible, in the clinical setting.
- Ensures that necessary safety precautions are taken based on the client's condition and facility policy.
- Intervenes as necessary to prevent injury to staff or other clients as per facility policy.
- Provides accurate documentation of client interactions and interventions. Writes progress notes on clients' issues as indicated. Documents clearly, and effectively utilizes appropriate forms.
- Conducts initial Nursing Assessment on new admissions and Quarterly Nursing Assessments as directed by the Physician.
- Provides courteous, respectful interactions with clients and other staff.
- Greets clients and provides a welcoming atmosphere.
- When not engaged in work-related tasks or activities, keeps personal conversation quiet to avoid being misinterpreted by clients.
- Provides reports to the Head Nurse, PA, MD, and Management staff as indicated.
- Performs other necessary tasks as assigned by the PA, Physician or Head Nurse.
- Keeps current with continuing education as required by license or as required by the position.
Staff is required to stay over shift until appropriate and sufficient staff has arrived. At times, in circumstances of staff call-outs, increased client acuity or supervisor requests staff is required to stay until dismissed by the Head Nurse, PA or Physician. Violation of this may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently licensed and registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York.
- Eligibility to work in the United States
- Must possess current BLS Certification
- Understanding of substance abuse and/or Methadone treatment.
- Experience working in an opiate treatment program preferred.
- Spanish speaking is a plus!
