Summary/Objective:
Qualified candidates will have previous plastic injection molding experience with automotive products and a proven track record effectively developing staff, implementing quality programs, and interfacing with customers on quality related topics. The qualifying candidate will have a strong quality management system oversight background and will work with all aspects of our business to assure consistent quality of production, customer satisfaction, and continual improvement emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Develop and manage a quality system that supports the maintenance of the quality registrations (IATF 16949:2016), is compliant with applicable local, state, and federal regulations and supports the achievement of agreed upon customer quality requirements.
2. Manage the quality assurance and documentation control functions to support the achievement of financial objectives.
3. Continuously evaluate voluntary standards, regulatory requirements, and customer requirements and adjust quality system and its policies and procedures accordingly.
4. Act as management representative for all quality system matters.
5. Conduct internal audits and publish the results.
6. Manage the customer complaint system and any corrective actions arising from a complaint.
7. Manage the Corrective Action/Preventive Action system (CAPA).
8. Host all customer quality surveys and respond to any corrective actions that may arise from them.
9. Manage the first article inspection, quality inspection, quality engineering and document control functions including defining activities, staffing levels, continuous feedback and timely job performance reviews, and goal setting.
10. Support continuous improvement process by providing training in problem solving and improvement methodology (6S, Root cause Analysis, Process FMEA)
11. Supervising technical staff in carrying out tests and checks, often in a laboratory environment.
12. Ensuring tests and procedures are properly understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are investigated if necessary.
13. Establishing relevant quality-related training needs.
14. Working closely with purchasing staff to establish supplier quality performance criteria and monitor supplier performance.
15. Assessing suppliers' product specifications and quality plans.
16. Supervising the program of supplier audits in relation to quality.
17. Liaising with other managers and staff, particularly in areas such as design, production and purchasing.
18. Acting as key contact with customers' auditors and being responsible for ensuring the execution of corrective actions and ongoing compliance with customers' specifications.
19. Establishing reasonable standards of service for customers or clients.
20. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Engineering
- 5+ years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a custom product manufacturing environment
- Experience in plastic injection molding is a plus, but not required
- Strong working knowledge of manufacturing quality procedures, principles and methods including IATF 16949:2016 compliance with core tools training.
- Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) is a plus
- Strong skill level in engineering principles (design of experiments, statistical data analysis, tolerance analysis, human factor engineering, FMEA/FTA, reliability, validation, development and execution of protocols/reports
- Use all basic precision mechanical measurement equipment including, calipers, micrometers, comparators, bore gages, etc.
- Documentation and record keeping skills.
- Ability to plan, organize, direct and coordinate in house manufacturing quality program.
- Professional demeanor and ability to build rapport with customers both in person and virtually.
- Possess a desire to create winning solutions for customers and be a customer advocate
- Strong written, presenting and verbal communication skills
- Must be comfortable delivering technical presentations to audiences of all levels, utilizing PowerPoint and other multi-media tools.
- Collaborator with the ability to work cross-functionally
- A drive to win while upholding high ethical standards
- Proficient in Microsoft Suite
- Well organized and goal oriented
- Role requires some business travel to customer locations.
Supervisor Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for all calibration and Quality lab personnel.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
