Job Summary
The accounts payable (“AP”) Manager is a hands-on roll that will report to the Senior Manager, Accounts Payable & Treasury and is responsible for all daily activities of the AP team including expense reporting, preparing AP analyses, reporting metrics, and preparation of AP related journal entries and month end closing.
Job Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure that the AP team performs the following:

Ensure accurate and timely invoice entry into the accounting system and/or approval software

Review invoice approval and coding from all departments to ensure consistency and accuracy

Process all check requests and invoice payments for all entities in a timely manner

Review the AP aging report on a consistent basis; ensure all current balances are paid (investigate past due amounts) and that the aging ties to AP sub ledger and GL balance.

On a monthly basis, review discounts loss and inquire as to the explanation

Set up new vendors in the accounting system and also follow proper procedures for changing any vendor data (address, bank accounts, etc.)

Ensure employee expense reporting or p-card purchases have proper receipts and are in compliance with company policy

Participate in month-end close, quarterly financial reviews and year-end financial statement audits

Work with AP personnel at multiple locations/plants to assist in any issues and/or vendor concerns.

Work closely with Tax department to ensure timely filing and remittance of any tax payments as well as the issuance of 1099s to applicable vendors

Oversee team integration as well as implementation of new ERP system; work with HRIS team for any Workday changes or implementations

This role is expected to be a very hands-on roll at times and candidate should be prepared to step into any function necessary as needed.

Prepare and/ or review required reporting for payables in accordance with accepted accounting principles

Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

If degreed, a minimum of four (4) years’ AP Supervisor or Management role and/or multiple years in a corporate accounting role with AP experience;

Knowledge of AP accounting principles is critical.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Workday; ability to work in multiple systems and oversee implementation of a new ERP system

Must have the ability to effectively communicate, both verbal and written, using detailed written reports and narratives, with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize

Ability to work effectively with others, possessing tact and discretion and demonstrate a high level of confidentiality in all matters

Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly

Prior experience in integration of accounts payable processes for a large organization.

Some light travel might be necessary at times.
Education
-
Bachelors’ degree in Accounting, Finance or other applicable discipline from an accredited institution is preferred or 8+ years in a large company (> $1B) AP management role.
