The Field Examiner will perform an independent, on-site evaluation of an existing or a prospective borrower’s books, records and operations to ensure compliance with a bank’s lending policies and procedures by assessing the adequacy and quality of collateral, by detecting changes in trends and by identifying risks. The Field Examiner will prepare a detailed report of significant findings from the exam for distribution to the bank. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the capacity to work both independently and with other examiners, clients or team members.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess the adequacy of the borrower’s accounting systems and controls, data integrity, and managerial oversight of the accounting staff and procedures to identify areas of potential exposure.
- Verify the validity and quality of the collateral securing the loans, typically Accounts Receivable and Inventory, by performing detailed testing to identify any collateral weakness or deterioration in value. Additional testing is performed on cash and accounts payable, as well as the verification of payroll tax payments.
- Throughout the exam, discuss with the bank any significantfindings, special concerns, exam delays, or borrower limitations. Prepare a comprehensive field exam reportwhich identifies and evaluates problem areas. Make recommendations on any areas of deficiency noted during the courseof the examination as it relates to potential borrower weaknesses which couldpotentially cause a negative impact to the collateral securing the loan.
- Ensure that the borrower is reporting collateralproperly on the Borrowing Base Certificates. Confirm compliance with the bank’s loanagreement and that the Borrowing Base is being managed per the bank’s terms andconditions. Make recommendations onappropriate borrowing base advance rates and inventory caps and/or reserves (if applicable).
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are seeking professionals with two to three years of field exam experience. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field. Experience in asset-based lending, accounting, auditing, financial credit analysis, loan collateral review or other directly related experience is recommended.
