Prepare and maintain exam rooms:
- Keeps supplies stocked in exam rooms: table paper, capes, pillowcases, lab supplies, gloves (one extra box in each room). Keeps supplies stocked in patient’s restroom for urine analysis.
- Change out sharps containers as needed.
- Cleans and prepares room for next patient.
Placing patient in room:
- Weigh and take patient’s height. Document.
- Obtain vital signs: BP, heart rate and o-stat. When patient is on a sick visit, take temperature. Repeat according to doctor’s orders. Document.
- Review medication list with patient and document any changes.
Check messages:
- Check messages several times during the day and before you go home each day.
- Call back patient with information requested. Forward message to doctor for answers to pertinent questions.
- All messages must be returned each day before the end of the shift. Even if we do not have the labs back patients deserve our attention and the knowledge that their message was received and properly taken care of. If you do not have the answer they seek, at least call them, and assure them you are working on it.
- All telephone encounters must be documented on the patient’s chart.
Refills and prescriptions:
- Respond to refill or prescription requests every day before you go home.
- Document name of medication, dose, strength, amount given, and number of refills given.
- If a patient requests a medication not listed in his/her “current medication” list, get authorization for medication from doctor.
- Print prescription for controlled substances and write out triplicate prescriptions and have doctor sign them before handing them to front desk for the patient to pick up.
Education and Experience:
1.Texas RN license or LVN license
2. CPR Heart saver AED certified from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
3. Must have a Minimum of 2 Year experience
4.Posses good communication skills to be able to effectively work with and educate patient.
