Purchasing Manager

Your Opportunity:
This position will determine organization suppliers by interviewing and negotiating orders, terms of sale, and product availability. Preparation and purchase of purchase orders in accordance with the policies of the company and the negotiated terms and conditions
What You Would Be Doing:
- Create, predict, and implement marketing strategies and policies which will help purchase products for the organization at cost.
- Direct and coordinate the operations of selling, buying and distributing materials, machinery, supplies and other equipment.
- Determine suppliers for materials and other equipment required by the company by interviewing and negotiating orders, terms of sale, and product availability.
- Review and approve purchase orders which support the companies policies and meet the negotiated terms and conditions.
- Represent the company in negotiating contracts by formulating policies in accordance with the supplies and equipment of the company and resolve conflicts against suppliers.
- Supervise team members
- Responsible for placing purchase orders for new and existing production materials.
- Identify and develop qualified suppliers which meet company standards.
- Control the cost of purchased materials within budget and generate cost reduction action plans.
- Maintain and support company objectives for cost reduction, inventory turns and on-time delivery.
- Place purchase orders to meet production schedules, while maintaining good supplier relationships and maintaining cost control.
- Manager all aspects of the Purchasing Department. Includes direct reports in the supply room.
- Assist in developing, leading, and executing purchasing strategies.
- Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
- Manage inventory levels and purchase as required.
- Negotiate pricing and contracts.
- Make recommendations to management for cost saving strategies.
- Develop, maintain, and improve supplier relationships.
- Locate alternative suppliers, products, and services.
- Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing and summarizing data and trends.
- Daily checks of critical inventory.
What We Are Looking For:
- 5+ Years of purchasing or sourcing in a manufacturing environment, preferably purchasing of multiple commodities.
- Strong negotiation skill with specified expertise in the procurement of raw material to finished products.
- Strong management of global vendors.
- Must have good inter-personal skills, and the ability to multitask with working with minimal supervision.
- Excellent MS Office skills required with the emphasis on excel.
- Excellent communication skills
- Organized, confident and professional
- Knowledge of machine parts and supply a plus
Physical Demands & Work Environment
· Ability to sit, stand and/or walk up to 8-10 hours per day
· Lift 50 pounds occasionally
· Ability to work in hot or cold work environment and must obey safety rules & exercise caution in all work activities.
