We currently have an excellent opportunity for an experienced and skilled General Manager. The General Manager is responsible for overall management of the manufacturing functions of the plant including Safety, Quality, Production, Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning and Maintenance. The General Manager is responsible for coordinating operations, meeting goals efficiently, proper staffing, training and motivating staff in a safe environment. Additionally, the General Manager helps establish the Ronpak culture and leads in identifying and developing the next generation of the plant’s leaders. SQF The reports to (primary and/or dotted line) is the back up for the General Manager and will cover for absences or vacancies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Planning and managing strategies and processes which minimize manufacturing costs through effective and efficient utilization of labor, equipment, materials, facilities and capital resources.
- Budgetary performance – attain or exceed operating results in line with Ronpak’s strategic goals.
- Identifying, recommending and then implementing approved changes to improve productivity and reduce manufacturing costs.
- Achieves optimum employee levels with least amount of overhead and raw material costs to meet annual budgetary plan and productivity requirements.
- Assure attainment of objectives and standards while ensuring product standards that exceed customer expectations.
- Establish group and individual accountabilities throughout departments for fact based problem solving and cost reduction.
- Continuous focus and improvement of safety by addressing both physical safety issues and developing employee safety awareness
- Conduct employee performance reviews to determine competency, knowledge and overall performance
- Select, train and motivate plant management and administrative staff
- Maintain and improve housekeeping throughout all departments
- Maintain systems to assure facilities meets all food safety system requirements including commitment, document control and records, verification, product identification, trace and recall, incident management, building and equipment design, and pre-requisite programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualications:
- Experience: 10+ years transferable work related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Degree: Four-year Undergraduate Degree required; Graduate degree preferred
- Experience in a senior management role and partnering with executive staff
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Desire for tactical “in the trenches” entrepreneurial and hands on role executing growth of a rapidly scaling company
- Negotiates, coordinates and documents goals for plant.
- Ensure that employee development plans are in place and effective.
- Communicates information in a timely and responsible fashion.
- Achieves budget objectives by scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
- Plans and leads the implementation of all cultural change initiatives.
- Monitors and controls all Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities to ensure compliance with goals. Ensures compliance with all safety and environmental legal requirements.
- Controls and secures the stable operation of the manufacturing unit. Ensures the plant is reliable and available for production.
- Assists in tracking and communicating EBITDA measurements.
- Ensures the availability of product while controlling inventory levels.
- Fosters an environment of open communication throughout all levels of the location.
- Assist in implementation and evaluation of various cost savings programs.
- Carries out responsibilities in accordance with the company policies and applicable laws.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
- Develop strong trusting relationships across every level of company in order to gain support and achieve results.
