Operations Manager
Job Description and Responsibilities
Main Daily Responsibilities
· You will required to drive as the Lead Driver (Operations Manager)
· Will work as a team with Dispatch on routing and deliveries
· Tailgate meetings at bin yard with Delivery Experts (2-3x per week)
- Twice a week you will meet the Toledo Drivers
· Create schedule for the next day’s routes
· Run a time study to determine how long each DE’s orders should take
· Change schedule as needed throughout the day, as new orders come in or current orders are revised (added, postponed, cancelled, etc)
· Work with DEs on the road to problem solve situations
· Manage DEs in general
· Ensure trucks are kept clean inside and out – spot checks
· Keep the bins in the yard in order
· Check trucks for paperwork and envelopes
· Spot check Bin Tracker for Daily Inspection Reports
· Periodically inspect trucks for damage, etc
· Periodically inspect truck storage bins for supplies (bungees, tarps, etc)
· Check bins for boards, and make replacement boards as required
General Responsibilities
· Become an expert on the Verizon dash cam system
o How to pull reports
o Best reports to run
o How to pull videos
o Use information to improve DE performance
· Monitor DE Truck Checks for diagnostics
o Fluid levels (DEF, etc)
· Schedule and help with maintenance and repairs, such as oil changes, tires, preventive maintenance, bin refurbishing, and ensuring trucks are brought to mechanics, etc
- Must have mechanical background
o Enter maintenance records into Maintenance Program
o Rams: Oil Change 10K miles, Fuel filter 25K miles
o Chevy 6500: Oil Change 10K miles, Fuel filter 25K miles
· Handling communication with mechanics and various vendors
o Create and maintain list of vendors
§ Contact info, specialties
o Discover new vendors as needed
· Log maintenance records and ensure preventive maintenance is on schedule
· Coordinate and assist with transportation for vehicle repairs and maintenance
· Take on Delivery Expert role as needed, and understand that this will take priority
· Some days may require both in-truck and in-office responsibilities
· Become a BTDT Certified Trainer
· Train new DEs and periodically refresh training for all DEs
o Ensure processes are being followed consistently
· Determine new ways to reward DEs
o On time for work, and leaving the yard on time
o Idle time reports
o Verizon report alerts, safety notifications
o Seat belt usage
o etc
· Handle accidents – video retrieval, reports, etc
· Cross train in all areas
· Manage bin delivery and truck delivery days – decals and phone numbers, bin doors, truck inspection, outfitting truck storage bins, etc
· Anything else Operations related that requires attention by Owners
Sales & Marketing
· Cold Calls, using online research to determine potential contractors/customers
· Follow up on email marketing campaigns
· Use Bin Tracker CRM to manage leads
· Train as Dumpster Consultant
· Answer customer calls and questions, give advice, book bin rentals – as needed
