General Summary of the Position
The Director of Advancement is responsible for institutional fundraising and is responsible for creating the development plan and successfully implementing development activities for TOBET. In collaboration with the leadership team and applicable boards, the director will cultivate relationships with key constituents. The development plan, under the director's supervision and leadership, will advance the mission, vision, and philosophy of TOBET. This position reports to the leadership team. There are some evening requirements, including attendance at board meetings.
Role & Responsibilities
Gift Cultivation:
The Director will manage donor relationships for Tier A and B donors.
- Serve as primary donor relations director for top donors/prospects/corporate donors
- Build relationships from scratch with potential high end donors
- Help identify and attract potential Board Members
- Collaborate with the TOBET Marketing Team to generate and disseminate success stories
- Organize and supervise the Donor Relations Team's procedures
Grants:
The Director will oversee TOBET's grant writing.
- Direct TOBET's Grant Writer in developing proposals
- Identify grant opportunities
- Cultivate relationships with prospective foundations
- Supervise the submission of grant applications and follow up reports
Fundraising Events:
The Director will analyze fundraising successes and failures and strategically plan future fundraising efforts
- Plan and implement montly TOBET luncheons hosted by TOBET supporters
- Direct event volunteers to plan and implement one major TOBET Awareness by a key supporter
General Duties:
The Director will promote understanding, acceptance of, and support for TOBET's vision, mission, and "why"
- Engage in high level advocacy
- Achieve measurable development and fundraising goals as established by the leadership team and the director of advancement
- Oversee staff administration of TOBET's CRM
- Establish, manage, and prioritize a comprehensive list of potential donors
- Implement a plan to cultivate and develop relationship with such donors
- Stewardship of donor relations including donor recognition, engagement with mission, and gift acknowledgement
- Develop and direct the annual Legacy Campaign, capital campaign, and major fundraisers, including North Texas Giving Day
- Work with leadership teem to plan and publish TOBET's Annual Report
- Develop and oversee a relations program for former members of the TOBET study group
- Procure matching donations to incentivize and grow revenue
- Work with sales team to develop a philanthropy model to underwrite TOBET resources
- Accept and embrace all other assignments and responsibilities as directed by the President
General Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Highly skilled in developing nurturing interpersonal relations and communications with staff, volunteers, donors, new families, and members of the parish
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong presentation and computer skills including use of TOBET's CRM
- Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with officials in the business and foundation community in support of seeking grant funding
- Strong in strategic planning, analytical and critical thinking, organizational abilities, leadership, and marketing skills
- Ability to meet established plans, goals, deadlines, and objectives
- Strong initiative, high energy, and ability to manage multiple, competing priorities
- Creative and proactive problem solver
- Proven ability to identify, cultivate, and complete major gift prospects
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
- Team player, flexible, able to deal with changing priorities, able to work well with staff, donors, and parishioners
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Experience in development in a small-size nonprofit setting
Salary:
- Salary is commensurate with experience
Work Location:
- In-person in Irving, Texas for one to two days; other days are geared toward meeting donors
- Willingness to travel to high level prospects
TOBET seeks to renew and sanctify the family, the Church, and all of society by forming people through St. John Paul II's Theology of the Body. We do this especially through The Body Matters program for Pre-school through 8th grade at Catholic schools, faith formation, and homeschool; Theology of the Body Marriage Preparation program; and talks and retreats.
