As a Shop Foreman, you will play a vital role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of Eastern Tire & Auto Service, Inc., a 100% employee-owned company. You will be responsible for supervising a team of technicians or mechanics, ensuring that work is completed efficiently, accurately, and in a timely manner. Shop foreman responsibilities
- Supervise and manage a team of technicians, providing guidance, support, and training as needed.
- With the management team, allocate work assignments to technicians and ensure that work is performed in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
- Monitor and review the progress of work orders, ensuring that deadlines are met and any issues or delays are promptly addressed.
- Conduct regular inspections of work in progress and completed repairs to ensure quality, accuracy, and adherence to specifications.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex mechanical issues or problems, providing technical expertise and guidance to technicians.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance and repair projects, ensuring that resources, equipment, and materials are available and utilized efficiently.
- Maintain and update service records, including work orders, repair logs, and customer information, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe and clean working environment for both employees and customers.
- Collaborate with other departments or teams, such as parts procurement or customer service, to facilitate smooth workflow and customer satisfaction.
Shop foreman required skills

- Excellent technical knowledge and expertise in automotive, machinery, or relevant mechanical systems.
- Proficient in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical issues or problems.

- Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to finding solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with team members, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Sound decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed judgments and handle unexpected situations or challenges.
- Proficient in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and other relevant software or tools.
- State of Maine Inspection License
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in automotive or mechanical fields is preferred.
- Proven experience as a technician or mechanic, with a strong understanding of mechanical systems and repair procedures.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role, preferably in a shop or service center environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations, compliance standards, and environmental guidelines.
- Certification or license in relevant areas, such as Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification, is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of shop equipment and tools, including diagnostic equipment and hand tools.
