Role and Responsibilities
The Storm Water Maintenance Technician is responsible for the professional, courteous, timely, and satisfactory completion of all duties assigned. This includes infrastructure maintenance and repairs within the perimeter of the Community including, but not limited to, roadways, leisure trails, lagoons, parks, Sea Pines CSA open spaces and common areas. In addition, they will be responsible but not be limited to the following:
Description of Duties
Primary
· Clean and repair drainage pipes, pipe ends, swales and ditches within Sea Pines Community
· Keep storm drain grates, pipes and culverts free of debris
· Operate within OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration) standards and company safety policies always. Must keep up to date with new safety standards, policies, and practices.
· Maintain and repair community Infrastructure
· Install, repair, and clean drainage pipes, gutters, culverts, catch basins, ditches, ponds and other drainage structures
· Ensure Utility line locates are called in, located and valid prior to any ground disturbance
· Backfill roadsides as needed
· Common Area Inspection – Survey common areas to survey storm water infrastructure when directed
· Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment
· Maintain professional appearance and conduct exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor at all times
· Ensure staff areas, vehicles and equipment is continually maintained in a clean and orderly manner.
· Attend Maintenance Staff Meetings
Additional duties may be assigned as designated by Direct Report or other senior member of staff.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
· Any combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described
· Ability to learn how to operate control structures and risers for managing water levels
· Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalency
· Must have valid Driver’s License
· Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
· Interpersonal skills are necessary for exchanging information as well as maintaining a courteous relationship with the residents, families, visitors and employees
· Available to work a flexible schedule to include work mornings, afternoons and on call evenings, nights and weekends if required; Also be available for Emergency Storm Response and inclement weather events
· Willingness to work outside in inclement weather
· Able to identify safety hazards throughout the community and perform duties in a safe manner
· Must be safety conscious at all times
· Must be able to use a smart phone or field tablet
Preferred Skills
· Prefer a candidate with the ability to use a variety of hand tools and equipment including but not limited to: String Trimmer, Chainsaw, Hedge Trimmer, Edger, Back Pack Blower, Push Blower, Zero Turn Mower, Push Mower, Tractor, Skid Steer, Scissor Lift, Golf Cart, Stump Grinder and Hydro seeding Machine, but willing to train the right candidate on equipment.
· Capable of running light machinery including a Backhoe, Mini Excavator, Vacuum Extractor and Line Jetter
· Experience driving dump trucks and/or dump trailers
Physical Demands
· Stand; and use hands and arms to handle, feel and reach
· Walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
· Work outdoors in the climate of the region that the property is located for extended periods of time
· Able to safely use manual and power tools weighing up to 40 pounds.
· Willing and able to lift heavy materials up to 50 pounds, which could include plant material, seed and fertilizer, vehicle and equipment parts etc.
