SUMMARY
Research, develop and improve manufacturing processes to complete operations utilizing cost effective techniques. Plan, direct and coordinate activities for customer jobs and designated projects within a CNC manufacturing environment. Featured machines include Okuma, Miyano, Nakamura and Wasino lathes, Mazak, Mori Seiki, SMEC turning centers, Citizen Swiss style machines, DMG, Mori Seiki, Toyoda horizontal machining centers and HAAS, Mazak, Hyundai-Kia, and Brother vertical machining centers. Automation using Fanuc 6-Axis robotics, secondary processing, conveyance and inspection are also used in production.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Take full responsibility and accountability for new part introduction/launch process.
· Responsible for meeting customer expectations on delivery, quality and workmanship.
· Troubleshoot and work through any processing problems and/or outside vendor issues.
· Evaluate and assess first run process to determine product profitability, and if not, determine methods or process improvements to ensure profitability.
· Plan and formulate objective or purpose of project, cost of project, and equipment and human resource requirements.
· Plan to determine time frame, procedures for accomplishing project and allotment of available resources to various phases of project.
· Coordinate activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within budget.
· Prepare status reports and modify schedules or plans as required.
· Confer with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
· Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
· Confers with customers or vendors to determine or review product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
· Update pricing of current production parts as processes change and/or material or subcontract costs change.
· Assist estimating with assembly, machining and welding quotes if needed.
· Ensure process prints are developed and approved to support production schedule dates.
· Update ERP database (Epicor) with revision and process changes.
· Evaluate parts for continuous improvements to increase quality, cycle time improvements and profitability.
· Carry out work tasks according to ISO procedures, OSHA regulations and other agency requirements.
· Participate in profitability review of all parts in production and implement action items to address profitability issues.
· Provide input on disposition of parts rejected or placed on-hold.
· Work with various departments to determine manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, quality processes and other procedures to ensure efficient production methods.
· Assist with the training of others on setup and operation of equipment if able.
· Other tasks as assigned.
