Under the direction of the Program Director, the Gymnastics Instructor will be responsible for providing leadership, instruction, and motivation for participants in Recreational Gymnastics Classes. Responsible for training gymnastic skills to all program participants of various ages, levels and experience The Gymnastics Instructor will also create a safe and positive atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals and promotes safety in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assists in the planning, preparation and implementation of appropriate age and level based lesson plans .

Instruct and educate participants on general gymnastics information and correct form. Inspect, clean, setup/put away all equipment prior/post each class.

Be aware of and implement all safety precautions and emergency procedures when necessary

Enforces all YMCA and Gymnastics facility policies, rules and regulations.

Responsible for supervision and safely spotting all participants.

Assure that lessons include proper warm-up, training and cool-down segments.

Greet and interact with members as needed before and after class, providing guidance, encouragement and motivation to every participant.

Completes all required records and reports including attendance sheets, progression cards, evaluations and new gymnast orientation.

Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries in timely manner.

Assist in training and developing new personnel as needed.

Attend all scheduled staff meetings and trainings.

Performs all other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education/ Experience Required:
-
Must have 1 year of Gymnastics and Group Management experience

Must be at least 15 years of age; 16 years of age preferred

Working knowledge of equipment setup
-
Ability to teach the development of skills and proper techniques

Mature judgement, effective communication and sound decision making skills
Certifications/Trainings Required:
Must obtain within 30 days of employment and maintain current certifications in CPR, First Aid, AED and
