Environmental Health and Safety/Training Specialist (Solar)

POSITION: Environmental Health and Safety /Training Specialist
Primary Duties/Responsibilities: To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Including, but not limited to the following:
· Establish and promote maintenance of safe and healthy working conditions and recommend measures to reduce or eliminate project accident and health hazards in compliance with OSHA and CAL-OSHA regulations.
· Train field staff on electrical safety.
. Must have a technical background in Solar to train the techs on how to do quality DC Health work (Safely).
· Ensure proper reporting of incidents / accidents, analyze data, submit results, and recommended corrective actions to senior management. Provide periodic reports representing safety performance.
· Help manage corporate Workers' Compensation and Loss Control program through effective claim management and work practices.
· Act as an internal lead to Customer safety audits when necessary
· Review, update and administer OSHA EH&S programs.
· Develop and manage weekly safety meetings.
· Develop quality & safety training modules.
Visit and audit field crews (50% Travel).
Knowledge/Skills
· Proficient with OSHA and Cal-OSHA regulations and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
· Hazardous Material Management Certification preferred
· Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast pace environment.
· Must have good communication skills (verbal & writing)
· Must have Solar electrical background.
· Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals.
· Proficient with personal computer and standard business software.
(The Ideal Canidate would be a seasoned O&M technician, backend capabilities, safety driven).

Working Conditions
· Warehouse/office environment and/or power plant environment.
· Requires operation of a motor vehicle; valid driver’s license and good driving record.
· Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment.
· Work overtime and non-standard working hours, including rotating shifts, as required.
· Requires travel, up to 50% at times
· Lead by example when it comes to wearing personal protective safety equipment (gloves, respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.).
Required Qualifications
· BA/BS Degree preferred in Occupational Safety, Psychology, Management, Liberal Studies, or other related degree/experience.
· OSHA 500/501, CSP, or relevant experience will be considered
· 1+ years of Safety experience preferred in a verifiable position.
. 4+ years in the Solar industry
· Knowledge and applicative experience with OSHA/CAL-OSHA rules/regulations and orders.
