The Controls Installer is an entry level position and will act as a resource within the Install division to assist other Installers, Project Supervisors, and Controls Foremen in the successful installation and delivery of controls projects. It is the expectation of the management group that this individual possesses all the skills/abilities to work under the supervision/guidance of a supervisor or foreman to ensure that projects are installed in a workmanlike manner.
Quality will be maintained in adherence to department standards and it is the responsibility of the Controls Installer I know and apply the standards on every project to which they are assigned.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the installation of building automation systems
- Ability to receive direction/instruction from Project Supervisors/Foreman and carry out tasks in a workman like manner
- Carry out wiring of low voltage and communication systems to building automation and HVAC equipment
- Perform installation of conduit, tubing, BAS controllers, and HVAC sensors/components
- Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed by management
- Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with superiors, co-workers, and other subcontractors/trades
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
- HS Diploma or equivalent
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances and elements including but not limited to: working outside in the elements, climbing ladders/scaffolds/high lift equipment, working on active construction sites
- Physical fitness and manual dexterity. Ability to lift items weighing up to 50 lbs safely
- Ability to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, and/or kneel continually.
- Ability to use and operate various hand and power tools
- Ability to work weekends, nights, and/or overtime as needed
- Must possess own hand tools for use on projects
- Ability to follow instructions
- Must be 18 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with limited violations
- Ability to pass background and drug screening checks
PREFERRED SKILLS
- Two or more years’ working in a skilled trade position
- Enrollment in or completion of a relevant trade apprenticeship
- Basic understand of HVAC components and electrical install standards
- Proven organizational, planning, and time management skills
