**Job Title: Head Chef **

**Position Overview:**
We are seeking a highly organized and process-driven Head Chef to lead our kitchen team and streamline our culinary operations. The Head Chef will be responsible for optimizing kitchen workflows, implementing efficient processes, and ensuring consistent quality and execution across all aspects of food preparation. The ideal candidate will be creative and motivated to bring a keen eye for detail, strong organizational skills, and a passion for creating systems that enhance productivity and profitability.
The Head Chef’s business responsibilities include managing all aspects of the kitchen to deliver an excellent Guest experience without sacrificing quality. You will be capable of exceeding budgetary expectations with regards to food and labor costs. You must have the flexibility to consistently work weekends, holidays and frequent late nights.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Develop, cost and implement standardized recipes, cooking techniques, and plating presentations to ensure consistency and quality.
2. Establish and maintain efficient kitchen workflows, including mise en place, prep schedules, and station setup, to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
3. Create and maintain detailed kitchen production schedules, staffing plans, and task assignments to meet service demands while controlling labor costs.
4. Oversee inventory management, including ingredient sourcing, ordering, receiving, storage, and rotation, to minimize waste and optimize inventory levels.
5. Implement rigorous food safety protocols, sanitation practices, and HACCP guidelines to maintain a clean, safe, and hygienic kitchen environment.
6. Train and mentor kitchen staff on proper cooking techniques, portion control, recipe adherence, and adherence to standard operating procedures.
7. Conduct regular kitchen inspections and quality checks to ensure adherence to recipe standards, food presentation guidelines, and portion sizes.
8. Collaborate with management to develop and maintain kitchen budgets, monitor food costs, and identify opportunities for cost savings and menu optimization. Assist with invoice processing.
9. Stay abreast of industry trends, equipment advancements, and technological innovations to continuously improve kitchen operations and efficiency.
10. Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a strong work ethic in all aspects of kitchen management and team leadership.
**Qualifications:**
1. Proven experience as a Head Chef in a high-volume, fast-paced restaurant environment. Five years experience in a similar role at an upscale casual restaurant.
2. Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, delegate responsibilities, and manage time effectively.
3. Solid understanding of kitchen management principles, including inventory control, cost analysis, and labor scheduling.
4. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and cleanliness.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively train, coach, and motivate kitchen staff.
6. Proficiency in kitchen technology and software applications for recipe management, inventory control, and scheduling (e.g., POS systems, inventory management software).
7. ServSafe certification and thorough knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
8. Culinary degree or equivalent certification from a recognized culinary institution is preferred but not required.
