HHPC is seeking a Service Technician to support our Biomedical and Environmental Research Department in the Science and Space division.
The Service Technician will provide assistance to the Laboratory Support Services (LSS) at the NASA-Johnson Space Center. This role is a function of the Human Health and Performance Contract to support spaceflight operations projects as well as research studies conducted to advance future exploration missions.
This position will work closely with the LSS lead and laboratory stakeholders to ensure that laboratory equipment calibration is maintained in the safest manner, in accordance with established quality management system standards.
Other responsibilities include receiving and distribution of dry ice, transportation of equipment for calibration, weekly eyewash, and safety shower inspections, monitoring refrigerator and freezer performance and responding to off-nominal alerts after hours as needed, and daily monitoring of house gas systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with onsite measurements, standards, and calibration laboratory (MSCL) and off-site vendors to ensure calibration equipment remains in compliance with NASA Standards.
- Maintain safety compliance of BCF to include performing weekly eyewash and safety shower inspections.
- Assist with general repair on laboratory equipment as needed or coordinate with external vendors for specialized equipment repairs.
- Maintenance of house gas tank farm to include daily monitoring and ordering of refills as needed.
- Provide support for the repair and certification of incubators and cold storage units.
- Provide support of environmental monitoring system.
- Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

- High School Diploma with Relevant Experience with equipment maintenance
- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant Industry-Based Certification or similar program
o (e.g. Industrial Technology Maintenance, NCCER Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning and Refrigeration, and Refrigerant Handling)
o Familiarization with gas pressure systems and their components.
o Familiarization with HVAC and refrigeration systems.
o General knowledge of laboratory equipment and systems
o General familiarization with pressurized systems
This position is subject to the Service Contract Act (“SCA”) and your pay and benefits comply with the Area-Wide Wage Determination (“AWD”) applicable to the contract. This position will pay no less than the amount included in the AWD for the corresponding labor category. Additionally, this position will be eligible to receive the Health and Welfare Benefit included in the AWD, less the cost of certain benefits, including retirement.
