JOB SUMMARY
The Outreach Coordinator is responsible for all aspects of the adoption program which include planning and coordinating adoption events, onsite adoptions, clinics as needed and partner with other city rescue groups. Incumbent will present Pet of the Week, provide education outreach, and create new partnerships. This position will also perform animal control duties.
Essential Job Functions

Coordination of adoption events, vaccine clinics and animal transfers with City partners and rescue groups.

Handle adoption and rescue documentation.

Perform administrative tasks such as promptly responding to emails, phone messages, and concerns or complaints from the community and rescue group calls.

Scheduling veterinary services for animals for potential adoptions.

Ensures that adoption animals are up to date on vaccines and preventative care; provide humane care to animals under adoption care program.

Presenting Pet of the Week with our local news affiliates.

Promote education outreach programs with community and schools.

Obtain and create new partnerships with local businesses.

Report and document accidents or injuries that occur with animals in adoption program.

Facilitate adoptions by evaluating both the potential adopter and the animal in effort to find the best possible match.
- Input correct information in Shelter Pro database system for all animals in adoption program and maintain social media posts by updating photographs and bios for each animal.

Ensure all records (door tags) are submitted daily by each municipality and complete monthly shelter reports.

Capture and impound dangerous or stray animals; investigate cases of animal cruelty and provide expert testimony in court cases.
- Respond to animal control complaints, set up animal traps, and humanely euthanize animals.

Responds to natural disaster emergencies; supervises damage team members and volunteers.

Clean shelter areas used for animals in the adoption program from urine, fecal matter, bodily fluids, dirt and mud.

Maintain regular and prompt attendance, physically present to work.

Performs other similar or related duties as assigned.
- Employee may be required to work beyond normal business hours at night and/or on weekends.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements

Must have High School diploma; or equivalent (GED).

One (1) to three (3) years of related work experience to perform such job.

Must possess valid Class "C" Texas Driver License.

Must obtain Animal Control Officer License and Euthanasia Technician License within first year of employment.

Applicant must pass pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen at City's expense.

Must successfully complete Emergency Management and Incident Command Training.

Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge of local ordinances, Texas state laws, COW animal shelter policies and procedures.
- Maintain a positive attitude to adapt to and full-fill new ordinances, regulations, changes, and other duties as requested by supervisor.

Possess strong oral and written communication skills and thorough understanding of city's Animal Shelter Program.

Patience to proper inform or enforce ongoing or ever-changing regulations from multiple agencies and city commission.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands
-
Regular exposure to heat/cold, dust, damp conditions, animal odors, bites, scratches, animal waste and moderate noise levels.
- Handle chemicals that can be harmful to skin or self if exposed to them for long periods of time without the proper PPE.

Must be able to stand, walk, sit, talk and hear, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, grasp, grip, and reach above and below shoulder level and frequently lift, push or pull up to 40lbs and occasionally up to 60lbs.
- This is a safety sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing.
