Description:
The General Laborer position is an entry level position that requires travel and working on or around railroad properties and heavy equipment.

Manual Labor: Performing physically demanding tasks such as lifting heavy objects, digging, carrying materials, and operating hand tools.

Site Cleanup: Keeping work areas clean and organized by removing debris, sweeping floors, and disposing of waste materials in designated areas.

Material Handling: Loading and unloading materials from trucks, storing them properly, and transporting materials to different locations within the worksite.

Assembly and Disassembly: Helping to assemble and disassemble temporary structures, scaffolding, and other construction components as directed.

Equipment Operation: Operating basic machinery and equipment, such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and power tools, under the supervision of trained personnel.

Safety Compliance: Following safety protocols and procedures at all times to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment for oneself and others.

Team Collaboration: Collaborating with other workers, supervisors, and project managers to complete tasks efficiently and according to schedule.

Flexibility: Being adaptable and willing to perform various tasks as assigned, including working in different locations and under different weather conditions.

Travel: Willingness to travel and on call during designated times.

Candidates for this role should have physical strength and stamina, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. They should also demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic. While prior experience in construction or a related field may be beneficial, many employers are willing to provide on-the-job training to motivated individuals. Additionally, candidates should be willing to adhere to safety regulations and follow instructions from supervisors and more experienced workers.
