The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100+ schools. performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) marketing and communications department (under the External Affairs Division) seeks a results-driven Visual Production Content Manager with a proven track record in creative story telling through video production, development and editing. The Visual Production Content Manager works in cooperation with the District Communications Officer and Director of Media Relations and Executive Communications to develop unique program ideas that serve CMSD’s goals and mission. The Visual Production Content Manager is responsible for overseeing the creation, production, and distribution of video content that aligns with CMSD’s strategic goals and brand identity. This role involves managing all aspects of video production from conceptualization to final editing, ensuring high-quality visual storytelling that engages and informs the District’s audiences. Additionally, this role includes managing the District’s news station and production room, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality broadcasts. The Visual Production Content Manager will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and on-screen talent to produce compelling video content for various platforms.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:
Video Production, Writing and Editing

Plan, shoot, and edit video content for the school district, including promotional videos, educational content, event coverage, and social media clips

Ensure all video content is on-brand, visually appealing, and effectively communicates the desired message

Develop video scripts, storyboards, and production plans that align with the District’s communication goals
-
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather information and create content that meets the needs of various departments
-
Produce original video content that enhances the District’s image and supports its mission and objectives
-
Oversee the post-production process, including editing, sound design, and visual effects
-
Review and approve final cuts, ensuring they meet the District’s standards and objectives
-
Manage the organization and archiving of video assets for future use
Vendor and TV Station Management
-
Identify, hire, and manage external video production vendors and freelancers as needed
-
Oversee contracts, budgets, and timelines to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
-
Ensure vendors adhere to the District’s quality standards and brand guidelines
-
Manage CMSD news station and production room; audit equipment, ensure newsroom is in working condition, coordinate use of newsroom
Scouting Talent and Filming Coordination

Identify and recruit on-screen talent, including students, staff, and community members for video projects
-
Conduct screen tests to select appropriate talent for some production that requires preparation of talent
-
Provide direction and feedback to talent during filming to ensure natural and effective performances
-
Schedule and coordinate all aspects of video shoots, including location scouting, equipment setup, and crew management
-
Ensure all necessary permissions and releases are obtained for filming in various locations
-
Troubleshoot and solve on-site issues to ensure smooth and efficient video production processes
Cross-Functional Collaboration
-
Work closely with the communications, marketing, and digital teams to integrate video content into broader campaigns and initiatives
-
Collaborate with graphic designers, writers, and other creative professionals to produce cohesive multimedia content
Performance Metrics and Reporting
-
Track and analyze the performance of video content across various platforms and track and report out on findings
-
Provide regular reports and insights to senior management on the effectiveness of video content and suggest improvements
-
Perform other duties as assigned that fall under the scope of communications and marketing needs supporting the department and the District
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, or public relations required
-
A minimum of five years production experience working in a recognized video production facility with a cable system
-
Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control and operation of telecommunications systems
-
Adept at operation of circuit boards, processors, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
-
Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems, videography and non-linear editing experience essential
-
Skilled in using sound, lighting and video graphics to enhance quality of video production
-
Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, production methods and coordination of people and resources for quality programs
-
Experience producing videos on demand in a deadline-oriented news/PR environment
-
Desire and ability to work in a high-demand, results-driven department with strict deadlines and multiple processes
-
Ability to meet deadlines and maintain high level of accuracy in completion of assignments
-
Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment and inventory control
-
A skilled broadcast technician with an acute knowledge of how to set up, operate and maintain electronic equipment used to transmit radio and television programs
