Commercial Real Estate Development company is seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant. Salary is: 124K
Overview: As a Senior Fund Accountant, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the accounting and financial reporting for a portfolio of investment funds. This role requires a deep understanding of fund accounting principles, regulatory requirements, and financial markets. You will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial information and supporting strategic financial decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting:
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for investment funds. Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, regulations, and internal policies. Perform complex reconciliations of fund transactions, including investments, cash, and income. Oversee the preparation of Net Asset Value (NAV) calculations and investor allocations.
2. Audit and Tax Compliance:

Coordinate annual audits with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate completion. Prepare and review tax returns and schedules, liaising with tax advisors as necessary. Ensure compliance with all relevant tax regulations and filing requirements.
3. Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Develop and document standard operating procedures for fund accounting activities.
Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes to ensure compliance.
4. Team Leadership and Development:
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, fostering a collaborative team environment. Assist in the recruitment, training, and development of fund accounting personnel. Lead and participate in team meetings, contributing to the overall strategy and direction of the department.
5. Client and Investor Relations:
Serve as a primary point of contact for fund clients and investors, addressing inquiries and providing financial insights. Prepare and present financial reports and analysis to stakeholders, including fund managers and investors. Maintain strong relationships with custodians, brokers, and other third-party service providers.
6. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and industry standards, including SEC, IRS, and other governing bodies. Prepare and file regulatory reports and disclosures as required.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CFA designation preferred.

Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fund accounting, financial reporting, or a similar role within the investment management industry.

Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and financial systems, such as Advanced Excel skills required.

Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and relevant tax regulations. Familiarity with various types of investment funds, including hedge funds, private equity, and mutual funds.

Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
