DSHS Behavioral Health Administration is seeking 2 Food Service Supervisors to join our dietary department at Olympic heritage Behavioral Health in Tukwila, WA. This is a great opportunity to get your foot in the door with state service! In this facility, we have approximately 200 clients that live on campus. The dietary department serves 3 meals a day plus nourishment, seven days a week.
King County employees receive 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary and are eligible to receive a free ORCA card for transportation use. Opportunities performed on-site at this work location at least three days a week may be eligible for an additional 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
As the Food Service Supervisor 2, you are responsible for ensuring proper food handling, sanitation, elimination of safety hazards, proper care and use of equipment in the dining area and kitchen, and inspecting food inventory for proper rotation and usage.
The shift for these positions are:
9:00am-7:30pm Friday - Monday
5:00am-3:30pm Tuesday - Friday
Some of what you will do:

Supervises and trains staff members in developing and carrying out prescribed food service program

Hires staff under the direction of the Food Service Manager

Responsible for all attendance and timekeeping functions

Advises staff of rules, regulations, and procedures of the facility

Maintain order and discipline among dietary staff while they are working in all food program areas

Provide dietary team with supervision, training, and direction on daily food and diet production

Ensure that proper sanitation, safety, and use of equipment procedures are being followed

Receive and inspect supplies delivered

Complete daily worksheets, issue sheets, recipes, and other daily automated forms

Coordinate meal preparation, making modifications as necessary

Responsible for meal observations on the unit during meal services
What we are looking for:

Supervisory experience in a kitchen environment
-
Current Food Handlers card within 14 days of hire

Understanding of principles, methods, and procedures involved in a large-scale food preparation and cooking operation

Ability to exercise good judgment, use problem-solving skills, and decision-making ability
-
Excellent written and oral communication skills with management and co-workers
Who should apply?
Professionals with a high school diploma or GED with four years of experience in industrial, commercial or institutional food service or patient tray service that includes one year as lead worker or supervisor
OR
an Associate Degree in food service management, nutritional care or a related field and one year of food service supervisory experience
OR
a Bachelor's degree with major coursework in restaurant or hotel management
