The Geotechnical Engineer- Residential Construction is responsible for assisting Recipients in selecting appropriate home models, reviewing and analyzing site-related documents, and coordinating with architectural and engineering teams to ensure successful project execution. This role requires a strong understanding of geotechnical data, zoning regulations, and structural design to provide comprehensive support throughout the planning and construction phases.
Duties and responsibilities
- Assist recipients in selecting home models from standard offerings.
- Review all documents related to building lots, including HOA covenants, easements, special zoning, soil reports, etc., and communicate findings as necessary.
- Initiate and oversee all aspects of architecture and planning.
- Interpret and analyze soil reports, topographic maps, and other relevant data to inform site suitability and design decisions.
- Collaborate with external structural engineers to develop and perform reviews of necessary structural designs and plans, such as foundation plans, surveys, site plans, and utility connection including septic designs.
- Monitor the progress of ordered designs to ensure timely delivery.
- Review all designs for compatibility with soil reports, percolation tests, etc.
- Coordinate with construction teams, providing necessary plans and documentation for successful builds.
- Provide advice on the suitability for building based on soil reports, Topography and flood maps and zoning when necessary.
- Stay informed about advancements in Geotechnical Engineering practices and regulations relevant to residential construction.
- Advise on foundation design, earthwork, slope stability, and other Geotechnical aspects of residential projects that can affect project scope and cost.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Geotechnical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Geotechnical engineering, preferably with a focus on residential construction projects.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License or eligibility to obtain licensure is preferred
- Proficiency in Geotechnical analysis as it is relates to existing site conditions including topography maps, surveys, soil reports, and site photographs.
- Strong understanding of soil mechanics, foundation engineering principles, and relevant building codes and regulations.
- Capability to develop plans to investigate potential risks or geological hazards for a site.
- Familiarity with water, ground, and soil monitoring techniques.
- Skills in building and maintaining vendor relationships.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to travel to project sites if necessary.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Proficient at managing time and resources.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask multiple projects and with multiple teams.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite (or equivalent).
Working conditions
Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked, shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events such as: NYC Tunnel to Towers 5K Run & Walk, golf outings, and other fundraising events, as required.

Pay: $105,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
