Position Summary:
Nelson Pipeline is seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Superintendent. The General Superintendent oversees field operations through management of Superintendents and Foremen, prioritizing safety, quality, staffing, and production. Responsibilities include training, developing, and coordinating field leadership, ensuring alignment with project goals, budget, schedule, and quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Provide Leadership and establish effective and professional working relationships among all teams, departments, vendors and subcontractors
- Demonstrate expert level working knowledge of assigned projects including specifications, scope requirements to ensure project is constructed in accordance to intended design, quality and safety standards while maintain budget and schedule goals
- Conduct pre-planning work and recommend changes to crew schedule to improve productivity and equipment allocation
- Assist Project Manager with monthly job projections, change orders, and resource management
- Manage resources and budgets to meet Company goals and profit margins
- Thorough management and review of bid documents, procure, and manage site work construction projects
- Broad knowledge of federal, state and municipal building codes related to utilities construction activities
- Develop and maintain strong client, subcontractor, and vendor relationships at project sites
- Suggest and implement alternative methods to enhance field production and efficiency within budgeted job costs
- Optimal utilization of personnel and equipment resources, including analysis of historical job production and evaluation of long-term labor and equipment needs
- Provide leadership, guidance and support to Superintendents to ensure effective project execution
- Delegate of decision-making to empower teams and streamline operations
- Monitor and ensure milestones, safety standards, and quality benchmarks are achieved
- Assisting Superintendents and Foremen in career development, evaluating team performance, hiring and firing
- Ownership, oversight and execution of Foremen & Crew bonus plan
- Providing direct cost and production input during the bidding process
- Identify and follow OSHA and safety requirements
- Strict adherence and leadership to drive Nelson’s safety program to ensure a safe work environment

Qualifications:
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully and in a professional manner
- 10-15 years or more of work experience in underground utilities/site work or related Sitework Utilities Construction industry preferred
- Willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate customer and project demands
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with broad understanding of budget, schedule goals
- Computer competent in Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft Office required
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred
