Accounting Supervisor – Full Time
Thorpe North & Western is seeking a seasoned, full time Accounting Supervisor to work in its Sandy, Utah office. The Accounting Supervisor will integrate and cross-train with the current members of the Accounting Department in all areas including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, invoicing, payroll, and receiving payments from clients. Notwithstanding the title of Supervisor, applicant will be required to personally perform assigned tasks.
The ideal applicant should have the following qualities and proficiencies -
Extensive background and proficiency in accounting as well as database skills.
Extensive work with financial statements.
Proficient in 10-Key and Typing.
QuickBooks knowledge and payroll experience including payroll taxes, W-2s, 1099s.
Honest and dependable with an excellent memory.
Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.
Extremely detail oriented with a strong work ethic.
Understands the importance of strict confidentiality.
Willingness to work overtime if required.
Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload.
Excellent communication skills in both writing and speaking.
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience is required for this position.
Applicants may be asked to provide evidence of competency or proficiency in basic accounting.
Employee will be required to familiarize with and execute the following duties -
Quick responses on a large number of emails.
Daily Deposit of receivables.
Handling trust funds, including annual reporting and transfers between accounts.
Invoicing clients including electronic billing in Ledes1998B post-delimited format.
Answering client questions regarding their accounts.
Accurate data entry.
Documentation storage and retrieval (primarily electronic, but some physical documents).
Bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.
Updating attorney information and rates.
Creating and maintaining statement formats.
Meeting deadlines without fail.
Handling monthly specialized reporting.
Other miscellaneous duties as needed.
Schedule – Employee will be expected to work a minimum of 40 hours per week. Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Overtime may at times be required.

Machines used – PC, calculator
Software used – Payload, MS Word, MS Excel, ProLaw, MS Outlook, QuickBooks.
Other considerations –
Remote work is not viable for this position. Employee will be expected to report to work at our Sandy, Utah office.
