Summary
The Accounting Clerk works in conjunction with the Bookkeeper and VP of Finance and is expected to accurately perform complex clerical, bookkeeping, and accounting assignments, as well as prepare accounting statements and financial reports. The Accounting Assistant is tasked to deliver high quality and efficient service to both internal and external customers, while adhering to the highest ethical standards, promoting the image of the Agency, and providing superior levels of customer satisfaction that drive long-term relationships, referral business and the attainment of profit goals.
Responsibilities and Duties
Ø Assists with accounts payable and/or accounts receivable functions.
Ø Responsible for receiving payments, creating daily deposits, and bank transactions.
Ø Responsible for agency billing, sending invoices to account managers and direct bill commission postings.
Ø Receiving and posting direct bill customer payments and pay carriers when applicable.
Ø Prepares financial reports and various accounting statements.
Ø Proofs accounting reports for clerical accuracy and posts journal entries to general ledger.
Ø Allocates expenditures to correct accounts as needed according to departmental procedures.
Ø Responds to all correspondence and phone calls in a timely and professional manner.
Ø Comply with all company policies and procedures.
Ø Perform any other related duties required by management.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
Ø Accounting or business degree preferred, and minimum 2 years’ bookkeeping experience required.
Ø One year of MS Excel experience required
Ø Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures
Ø Possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ø Excellent organizational skills, written and verbal communication skills
Ø Work well in a team environment and independently
Ø Proficient in MS Office Suite, Outlook, and Internet
Ø Warm, friendly personality with the ability to connect with people
Ø Knowledge of spreadsheets and accounting software preferred
