Position Title:
Assistant Program Director for Nursing (Administrative Position)
Reports to:
Program Director
Qualifications/Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Nursing
- Current PA RN license
- Previous experience in nursing practice, nursing education and educational administration
Responsibilities:
- Functions as director in his/her absence
- Serves as resource for new faculty
- Oversees SPE process and Nursing Curriculum Committee
- Performs other duties as assigned by Nursing Program Director
- Serves as a role model for professional behavior
- Serves as a Clinical/Lab instructor, as assigned
- Prepares instructional materials for assigned course(s) using approved Harcum College and Nursing Program templates
- Distributes materials to students and paces on Canvas in timely fashion
- Facilitates student learning using a variety of effective teaching/educational strategies
- Incorporates current knowledge, research, and other evidence into all instructional packages
- Evaluates student learning/achievement of course outcomes using a variety of methods
- Composes examination according to policy
- Demonstrates competence in the use of current and emerging educational and nursing clinical technology
- Identifies students in need of assistance in learning or remediation and makes appropriate referrals
- Advises assigned students on academic issues and assists students to meet student learning outcomes
Service:
- Participates in the Nursing Faculty Organization meetings
- Serves on Harcum College committees
- Participates in community and nursing actives
- Overall responsibility for the Nursing Program
- Chair of Nursing Faculty Organization
- Point of contract with ACEN and PA State Board of Nursing
- Administration of nursing program budget
- Faculty and staff evaluations
- Collaborate with other faculty in developing course materials
- Utilize effective communication skills to impart knowledge and provide support through counseling
- Effectively Plan, organize and execute the instruction
- Assess student needs and progress in both theory and/or clinical practice
- Utilize various teaching methodologies to facilitate the teaching/learning process among the traditional and adult learners
- Function as a role model for students
- Provide academic advisement and counseling for students
- Evaluate courses regarding content and teaching methodologies
Scholarship:
- Maintain current knowledge of subject area
- Demonstrate continued professional development
- Assume responsibility for own personal and continuing education and developmental needs
Service:
- Provide leadership to the faculty in planning and implementing the curriculum
- Actively participate in College-wide committees
- Serve as Director of the Nursing Faculty Organization
- Plan course schedules and faculty teaching assignments
- Pursues contracts with cooperating agencies
- Plan and administer the Nursing Program Budget
- Direct the implementation of admissions and nursing program policies
- Interview and make recommendations for new faculty and staff positions
- Serve as a resource for faculty, students and community when indicated
- Foster effective public relations
- Actively participate in professional associations
- Participate in recruiting activities for the College and the nursing program
