Maintenance Technician
St. Louis Public Library
The St. Louis Public Library is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join our Maintenance team. Our ideal candidate will be experienced, reliable, have a strong attention to detail, and can work well both independently and with others. The Maintenance Department is headquartered out of our Administration Building at 1415 Olive Street, Downtown West.
As a key part of our maintenance team you will:
- Perform HVAC duties including maintenance of chillers, condensers, cooling towers, and boilers.
- Install and make repairs to lighting and electrical fixtures, circuits, controls, and wiring.
- Install and makes repairs to plumbing fixtures, including piping, faucets, toilets, and water heaters.
- Maintain pumps on motors on all equipment.
- Maintain roofing on Library buildings.
- Perform painting duties including paint application, caulking, and plaster.
- Maintain the correct temperature and humidity control of Library buildings.
- Inspect building interior and exterior for potential safety concerns.
- Perform ongoing preventative maintenance to prevent major problems.
- Perform repairs to concrete and asphalt.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
You will need to be:
- Able to work with minimal direct supervision.
- Able to frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Able to find and fix the source of a problem.
- Able to use power tools safely.
- Able to communicate with supervisors and customer service.
You will need to have:
- Your high school degree or equivalent plus two to four years related experience and/or training in the building maintenance field; Degree from Mechanical Trade School; Equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A valid driver's license.
- HVAC Universal Refrigerant Certification
- Computer skills including Building Automation Systems (BAS)

Mon-Fri, 7:30 am-4 pm, on-call hours as needed
