Purpose
The purpose of this standard procedure is to define the job description of the Field Supervisor through the outline of his or her duties, authority and responsibilities.
Authority
The Field Supervisor derives authority from the Central Region General Manager and is granted full authority to carry out the duties set forth in the job description.
Responsibility
The Austin Region Field Supervisor is directly responsible to the Central Region General Manager for the proper discharge of his or her duties. This position will primarily be located around the Austin region, but could entail some travel for an indeterminate amount of time in other markets. Primary job duties will be performed in the field covering the Austin market; however, it will require periodic office visits to gain a better understanding of the project details, job costs, post project reviews and meetings necessary to maintain an organized company wide effort.
Job Responsibilities & Essential Functions
The Austin Region Field Supervisor’s principal duties are to perform all required tasks necessary to execute projects at the field level on behalf of Gulf Coast Pavers in a safe, profitable and skillful manner. In order to perform these principal duties, the following must be properly fulfilled:
· Analyze/review project drawings, specifications, proposals and other related documents to install the specified pavers, tile or retaining wall systems accordingly.
· Develop strong customer relationships to provide accurate start dates while ensuring the project is ready to accept the installation of the specified material.
· Work with vendors to ensure the material is delivered timely and in good condition.
· Manage the designated Gulf Coast Pavers Crews and/or Subcontractors to install the project safely and efficiently all while maintaining the highest level of craftsmanship in the industry.
· Manage, maintain and update the project schedule based on daily observations of the crew’s production.
· Complete paperwork and provide all job data accurately and timely.
· Perform field take-offs to support project documents and subcontractor pay apps.
· Maintain detailed lists of material quantities received and actively manage that material to limit waste.
· Cultivate and maintain supplier contacts to ensure the project is sufficiently resupplied as needed.
· Aid the estimating department with change order pricing if needed.
· Aid the procurement department and project coordinators with material management.
· Keep current with the latest contract document updates and changes.
· Actively participate in the job cost review process.
· Participate in strategy sessions to identify areas for increased profitability and efficiency.
The above outline of duties is not arranged in order of priority. These duties are not meant to restrict initiative, but rather to describe minimum activities. Those duties will, from time to time, be altered by the Central Region General Manager to suit the needs of the company.
Working Conditions
The job requires working in the field with occasional office visits. It also requires dealing with suppliers and customers as well as multiple Gulf Coast Pavers crews and Subcontractors. This position is Monday – Friday including some Saturdays depending on field workloads. The hours for this position vary, but all field personnel including field supervisors and managers are expected to begin the day no later than 7:00am and typically wrap up by 4:00/5:00pm if there are no other immediate needs.
General Qualifications
· Minimum 2 years of work experience is required.
· Bachelor degree or equivalent educational experience preferred.
· Clear and fluent knowledge of computers and experience working with spread sheets.
· The ability to multi-task, have excellent attention for detail and follow-up skills that produce thorough and reliable completed work.
· The ability to manage effective working relationships.
· Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
· Being self-motivated, self-directing and punctual.
· Having previous experience in the hardscape industry is an asset but not a requirement.
· Understand reading and interpretation of drawings and specifications.
· Having a driver’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
· Familiarity with financial and project management principles.
· Superior math and IT ability.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent organizational skills.
· Well organized team players who can thrive in a fast-paced work environment.
· Bilingual would be an asset, but not required.
Salary
· $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 / year
