Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE)- Department of Testing is recruiting for an experienced Assessment Specialist, Grades 6-8 Assessment. Under limited supervision, this position applies professional expertise to activities and projects related to the development of the state’s assessment programs, with an emphasis on ensuring alignment of test items to state-adopted content standards in sixth grade through eighth grade. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Description of Duties
- Review newly developed test items/tasks for alignment to the state content standards
- Review ancillary materials and other resources such as administration manuals, assessment guides, and study guides
- Review and monitor scoring protocols and procedures for constructed-response items
- Develop, coordinate and evaluate work plans, procedures, documents, and program activities
- Assist with educator committee reviews of test content
- Develop and deliver professional learning related to state assessment programs
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Experience as an instructional leader, such as department chair or curriculum director, implementing state-adopted content standards in Grades 6-8 English language arts and mathematics
- In-depth knowledge of state content standards in Grades 6-8 English language arts and mathematics
- Experience managing projects in a fast-paced work environment with short deadlines and multiple priorities
- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
- Education specialist or higher degree
***This is a remote/telework position based in Downtown Atlanta. Some statewide travel may be required.

High School diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or Associate degree in education or business or a related field from an accredited college or university; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
