Vecino Health Centers is currently hiring several Mental Health Counselors for its two clinic locations in Houston, TX.
These Mental Health Counselors must be able to work efficiently and independently with Spanish speaking clients. Additionally, these Mental Health Counselors should have at least 1 year of experience and be licensed in Texas with either a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license or a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) license.
The role of the Mental Health Counselor is to provide counseling, crisis intervention, and case management services to adults and children in individual and group settings at a neighborhood clinic serving health needs of English speaking and Spanish speaking patients. The Mental Health Counselor will provide care to patients under the direction of our Director of Behavioral Health.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. The assessment, diagnosis, formulation of treatment goals, development and implementation of individualized treatment plans through the use of effective counseling techniques and therapeutic approaches
2. Diagnosing aspects of mental health assessments and treatment
3. Specific training in evidence based treatment modalities for children and youth highly desirable
4. Making appropriate reports as mandated by law
5. Case management/ client advocate responsibilities providing and coordinating referrals for services as needed
6. Evaluation of client progress
7. Thorough documentation of client charts through the use of an electronic medical record software.
8. Collaborating as part of an interdisciplinary team
9. Preparing and conducting psycho-educational programs and or lectures on relevant topics in an effort to promote mental health in the community
10. Other duties assigned by supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
1. Master’s degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work from an accredited college or university required
2. LPC, LCSW or LMFT (Texas issued license) required
3. Must be able to work efficiently and independently with Spanish speaking clients.
4. Must have experience/training working with children, adolescents and families
5. Prior experience in the diagnosis and treatment of diverse mental health issues
6. Knowledge of cultural, economic, social, and legal issues relevant to the underserved/ uninsured population a plus
7. Working knowledge of using an electronic medical record (EMR) system. Epic EMR knowledge a plus.
