We are seeking an experienced Sales and Catering Manager to join our team. Ideal candidate will have a background in catering/hotel sales, and banquet operations, strong relationship building skills, the ability to meet tight deadlines, while providing exceptional customer service to our clients/guests. This person must have excellent leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills and be able to prioritize and adapt to the changing needs of the operation and ownership. Applicants must also be willing to work a variety of shifts including nights, weekends and holidays depending on the business.
Duties:
- Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:
- Multi tasker, detail oriented, exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to act independently with minimal or no supervision
- Pro-active self- starter and creative thinker
- Possess strong written and verbal communication skills and a professional demeanor and approach
- Requires solid computer skills including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point, and other relevant tools
- Solicit, secure and respond to customer inquiries regarding the purchase of food and beverage, rental of event facilities and purchase of services from the hotel while meeting the needs of existing clients.
- Conduct property tours for hotel room blocks, meetings, social events, and weddings.
- Communicate with and provide direction and supervision to team members to execute catering events
- Respond to special guest requests in a timely, friendly and efficient manner
- Maintain knowledge of hotel/banquet facilities, capacities, menus/menu costing and dimensions of meeting space and basic operational needs of all operating departments. Understand capabilities and limitations of event spaces.
- Negotiate with clients, create event proposals (BEO), and prepare contracts to confirm bookings while maximizing revenue potential through up selling.
- Maintain an active trace/follow-up system on all inquiries and personal sales calls.
- Ensure accuracy of Banquet Event Orders and review all events with Sales and Catering Coordinator and Banquet Manager to ensure proper execution of all events.
- Plan and/or attend and/or participate in meetings with management, including but not exclusive to: Morning Operations Briefing, Banquet Event Order Meeting, Sales Meeting Pre-Convention Meetings, Planning Visits, and Menu Tastings.
- Ensure accuracy of Banquet Checks and provide bill review on completion of event.
- Find solutions to the inevitable challenges that arise while groups are on property, coordinate with the Banquet Manager to find mutually beneficially solutions.
- Meet or Exceed Goals set up by the General Manager.
- Prepare weekly sales reports, catering statistics and revenue forecasting reports as directed by the General Manager
Supervising and scheduling banquet staff.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in fine dinning or upscale restaurant or catering management- required
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Must have 3-5 years large banquet events.
Must have 3-5 years of sales experience for banquet events
Must have open availability
Must be able to work- weekends and holidays
Must have experience in fine dining or upscale restaurant
