Key Responsibilities
The Manager of HR Operations is a mid-level manager with direct report(s) on Noble’s HR team, overseeing day-to-day human resource operations functions. The Manager of HR Operations will have direct management and mentorship from the Director of HR Operations in the areas of HRIS, payroll, total rewards, onboarding, credentials, benefits administration, and broad HR operational needs in support of Noble’s 1,600 employees. The ideal candidate is an HR professional with leadership experience, looking to get extensive experience in the back-end support required to run a successful HR function. The ideal candidate is ready to commit to the highly-detailed work of HR operations and continue to find ways to improve the efficiency and high-quality execution of systems that support the organization.
Maintain the optimal function of the HRIS, which may include data entry and maintenance, implementation, customization, development, system maintenance, and upgrade to applications, systems, and modules.
Provide technical support, troubleshooting, and guidance to HRIS users, as well as serve as subject-matter-expert on the HR/Payroll team.
Compile and/or assist with the creation of complex data reports, summaries, and analyses on a regular and per-project basis.
Manage ad hoc HR projects.
Collaborate with Director of HR Operations to identify system improvements and enhancements to HR systems; recommend and implement solutions.
Execute large-scale organizational HR projects (e.g. open enrollment; end-of-year personnel updates, etc.).
Provide data entry and quality assurance support on semimonthly payroll processes, to ensure error-free processing of payroll.
Support the Total Rewards program, including benefits, time away from work, and licensure initiatives.
Complete benefits administration including monthly billing and reporting, COBRA administration, open enrollment processing, ACA, QLE, and auditing.
Manage team of direct reports, including goal setting and performance management. Areas of direct report responsibilities may include background checks, compliance, employee adjustments, Faith’s Law, licensure, onboarding, survey administration, vendors, volunteers, workers compensation.
Serve as a key operational support and team member on HR and broader initiatives across the People teams, as needed.
Build strong relationships with stakeholders by addressing inquiries timely and concisely.
Exhibit solutions-oriented recommendations and provide support on complex operational issues.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HR compliance (including federal and local laws, and internal practices)
Build and maintain vendor relationships and leverage them for any employee inquiries or escalations.
Other duties as assigned.
Some travel to campuses throughout Chicago is required.
Ideal Candidate Experience and Traits
A minimum of three years of human resources, onboarding, and/or payroll experience strongly preferred
1-2 years of management experience strongly preferred
Prior experience in a K-12 or non-profit setting preferred
Experience with HRIS/HCM administration preferred
Proficiency in Excel, including experience manipulating and analyzing large data sets
Proven track record of achieving results
Strong problem-solving skills, strategic thinking, and resourcefulness
A positive attitude, initiative, and a sense of possibility
Deep self-awareness, a regular practice of reflection, and a desire to continuously improve
