Summary
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Director of Information Technology is responsible for providing leadership in developing and implementing practices and processes in the areas of information technology, data collection and reporting, and compliance. The Director will lead a team of information technology professionals, ensuring the organization is properly supported, create and maintain a data warehouse for information collected throughout the organization, and will champion the use of “best practices” and HIPAA security compliance for technology used within the organization.
The Director will be responsible for giving oversight to consultant activities in support of information technology and related initiatives. The Director may be called upon to present to the Board of Directors when requested by the CEO.
Primary Job Duties
Leadership & Team Building: The Director will model a collaborative management style and be a champion of cross-organization cooperation. The position will bring new insights in the areas of information technology, data collection, and compliance. The position will work with and understand the needs of all of the programmatic and administrative departments around the collection, storage, and manipulation of data as well as the necessary reporting of information to funders, program managers, the Executive Leadership Team, and to the Board of Directors. The Director will have excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills and possess the ability to work with teams of individuals to make better use of their systems. They will implement new IT systems with a minimum of disruption or loss of data. The Director ensures optimal IT systems, HIPPA Security training, and will provide information, resources, and assistance to all staff for software updates, protocols, and HIPPA related concerns.
Critical Business Systems Management & Continuous Improvement: The Director will lead an ongoing comprehensive review of operational efficiency and is responsible for continuous improvement of critical data systems which will allow for standardized policies, procedures, and value-added reporting formats across all SAAF programs, departments, and sites. Manage, monitor, and maintain hardware and software license and maintenance agreements to ensure best practices.

Ensure compliance with standard security practices and procedures.

Create and ensure processes for data confidentiality, protection, and disaster recovery.

Researches and recommends hardware and software changes to benefit SAAF programs, operations, and mission.
- Manage relationships with and evaluate 3rd party providers and technicians.

Maintain current knowledge of technical systems, IT management trends, and safety protocols.

Works closely with the Leadership Team to identify, recommend, develop, and implement cost- effective technology and solutions for all aspects of the organization.

Works with Finance in the purchasing functions of technology assets.
Performance Assessment & Staff Performance: The Director will contribute to and create the mechanism to report effective organizational performance metrics, setting goals, and reviewing performance, utilizing performance analytics, dashboards, and infographics. The Director will exhibit strong supervisory and leadership skills by utilizing excellent verbal and written communication partnered with exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
Information Technology: The Director will exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills to be responsible for the planning, organizing, developing, implementing, and coordinating all organization’s information systems. The Director is responsible for developing and managing the organization’s infrastructure and communications technology to provide the most efficient support for current operations and future information technology needs. This will include building a data warehouse that efficiently and effectively integrates our medical records, case files, program deliverables, HRIS and employee records, as well as any other databases used by the organization. The goal is to ensure that information technology adds the maximum value to the organization to facilitate the greatest success of SAAF. Day to day duties include but are not limited to:
- Creating and managing IT budgets and procuring IT supplies/resources.

Developing, managing, and implementing all IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, purchasing, and service provision.

Providing higher level IT support as needed.

Responsible for IT special projects including, but not limited to, the development of the org-wide data warehouse with proper protocols, creation of the Board dashboard for current KPIs, improved data security, etc.

HIPAA security officer responsible for integrating IT security and HIPAA compliance with SAAF’s business strategies.

Overseeing the condition of equipment and performing essential device maintenance.

Designing and maintaining access controls, business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans within the IT/data management sphere.

Conducting risk assessments and audits for both internal stakeholders and to Business Associates and other third parties.

Investigating data breaches and implementing changes to ensure future prevention.
Minimum Qualifications

Industry experience including at least seven (7) years of direct management experience of IT personnel.

At least three (3) years of Director level management experience. Prior position should involve reporting and planning based on data analysis.

At least three (3) years of management of manager or systems administrator level personnel, with the ability to adapt to the needs of the organization and employees.

Experience with Azure administration, monitoring, tuning, and deployments.

Compliance experience in data security, HIPAA, HITECH, PCI, and grants.

Strong familiarity with Office 365.

IT operations: diverse knowledge set including but not limited to an understanding of applications, LAN/WAN infrastructure, data management/systems, cloud technology, disaster planning/recovery, telecommunications, hardware, and equipment.

Cloud/Hosted Solutions: Experience with Office 365 management and Azure.

Experience in contract management and negotiation.

Experience and knowledge in IT hardware, including its purchase and maintenance.
Preferred Qualifications

Bachelors Degree or higher in MIS, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Prior non-profit experience.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands:
Operate in a professional office environment and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time with intermittent walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling, and pushing. Requires the ability to use standard office equipment such as scanners, computers, keyboards, phones, shredders, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires travelling on occasion as needed between SAAF campuses and other locations.
Physical Requirements:
This job is a sedentary job, as defined by the Social Security Administration, CFR.

(a) Sedentary work: Sedentary work involves lifting no more than 10 pounds at a time and occasionally lifting or carrying articles like docket files, ledgers, and small tools.
