Duties/Responsibilities:
- Study and analyze blueprints and floor plans to understand the plumbing and water supply system layout
- Navigate the assembly and installation of water and sewer pipes without interfering with existing infrastructure
- Measure, cut and bend pipe material
- Assemble valves, fittings, tubes and water system appliances
- Install building water and drainage systems
- Troubleshoot and fix issues relating to water supply and drainage lines
- Maintain current knowledge of state regulations affecting plumbing work
- Inspect and test plumbing systems for safety, functionality, and code compliance
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional customer service and client focus
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools used in the plumbing trade
- Knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and safety practices
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and rough drawings
- Familiarity with PVC, CPVC, PEX, cast iron, and copper
- Effective communication, interpersonal and time management skills
- Ability to complete projects unsupervised and unassisted
- Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
- Attention to detail and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proficiency in basic mathematics and conversion of measurements
Education and Experience:
- Successful completion of an apprenticeship with a qualified plumber preferred
- Proven experience working as a plumber in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of plumbing systems, materials and equipment
- Working knowledge of state regulations and codes affecting plumbing work
- High School or Trade School diploma, or completed apprenticeship
- 2+ years experience as a plumber or plumbers helper/apprentice
- Valid plumbing license, preferred but not required
- Valid driver’s license
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a construction environment
- Ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, and occasionally up to 100 pounds
- Ability to work outside or inside, sometimes exposed to high heat or low temperatures
- Ability to climb ladders or stairs and work either above ground or in tight spaces
