The Road Service Technician repairs forklifts and various other equipment that WD Matthews Machinery Co. sells and services at customer locations. The equipment a Road Service Technician is expected to maintain or repair includes, but is not limited to, gas, diesel, propane and electric powered material handling equipment as well as aerial lift and manlift equipment. To be considered, an applicant should have mechanical experience and interest, or possess related skills and formal technical training. Forklift repair experience is very desirable, but we also seek candidates with mechanical repair experience in a variety of areas.
We prefer to hire an individual with Vocational Tech education with experience in the automotive, equipment, or hydraulic area. The applicant must have basic mechanical and technical experience, 2 years of experience is preferred.
The primary function of the Road Service Technician is to repair and maintain industrial equipment, at the customer’s location. Requires strong customer service relations as you would represent the company when working for our customers. General computer experience is needed to run diagnostic programs, and other programs.
The physical requirements include: lifting and carrying a toolbox weighting approximately 40lbs, bending, climbing and working under equipment.
The applicant must pass a pre-employment physical prior to being hired.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
We require a High School diploma or GED.
Minimum of 2 years mechanical repair experience or comparable service experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Forklift repair experience desired.
Applicants must possess a current, valid, unrestricted Class C driver license with no more than the allowable number of points as determined by our insurance carrier.
Excellent organizational and customer service skills.
Capable of effective written and verbal communication.
Self-motivated, flexible, able to work with minimal supervision.
Must supply own general tools.
