The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. Recreation Specialist
The Recreation Specialist is responsible for the design, development, and implementation of a comprehensive program, addressing the social, educational, recreational, and spiritual needs of the residents.
Responsibilities:

Working with staff and residents, gather information on resident interests and needs related to activities.

Design comprehensive program of social, educational, recreational and spiritual activities

Identify community resources that can enhance resident programs.

Foster participation of residents in activities and event in the larger community.

Foster the planning and running of birthday and holiday celebrations.

Facilitate and/or lead group activities
-
Provide individual services to residents as needed.
-
Facilitate trips and outings for residents.
-
Responsible for providing a monthly activity calendar and posting it in the facility.

Outreach to residents to acquaint them with all activities, and encourage their participation
-
Participate in resident meetings as requested by supervisor.
-
Maintain all client forms accurately and complete them in a timely manner.
-
Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
-
Ensure compliance with all relevant government regulations including DOH, and OMH requirements.

Maintain all public bulletin boards.
-
Responsible for the purchase of program supplies and completion of all necessary record keeping related to these expenditures.

Work closely with all residents and staff to monitor effectiveness of program.

Work as member of team to establish and maintain high level of care and respect for and communication with residents

Share information about resident progress, needs and problems with appropriate staff in a timely manner.

Attend training sessions and conferences as assigned by supervisor

Qualifications
-
High School Diploma or equivalent. Higher education preferred.

Experience in recreation and/or activities
-
Fluency, oral and written, in Spanish required
-
Able to speak, read and write English (as required by DSS regulation 487.9.13)
-
At least 18 years of age.
