Beacon Veterinary Specialists is looking for a client service experienced individual who loves pets and is excellent at multitasking to join our team as a Doctor’s Assistant! As a Doctor’s Assistant, you will learn about specialty medicine, patient care, and client education, and work alongside a specialist or emergency clinician as part of a doctor/technician team.

Schedule:*
The training schedule would be Monday - Friday from 11:00 am - 7:30 pm for the duration of 8 - 12 weeks. The regular schedule would be Monday - Friday from 11:00 AM - 7:30 PM.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:*
- Explain the consultation process and what to expect during appointments with pet owners
- Obtain vital signs from patients, when necessary
- Obtain a brief history from the pet owner about the patient
- Start typing the doctor's notes by entering the patient history in the electronic medical record
- At the direction of the doctor, create medical treatment plans for the patient and review the plan and associated costs with the pet owner
- Collect deposits, if required
- Dispense medications to go home, if needed
- Create and review patient discharge paperwork and facilitate their go-home appointments
- Facilitate phone calls and emails on behalf of the doctor and/or technicians
- Discuss the case with the client/referring veterinarian to determine if the patient needs to be seen immediately as an emergency or scheduled for the next available appointment time
- Ensure that doctors are presented with and are reviewing patient diagnostic test results

Education:*
- High school diploma or equivalent
Experience:
- 2+ years of clinical experience required
- Surgery, Specialty, or Emergency experience preferred
